A wild elephant was killed after exploding a

"Hakkapatas"explosive device at Uralkulam in Vavuniya area.

The body of the deceased wild elephant was recovered in a jungle area at Uralkulam.The wild elephant was killed due to the injuries he received to his face after eating "Hakkapatas "it has been revealed. 

A Youth Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Motorcycle-Tractor Collision

A youth Motorcyclist was killed after the Motorcycle

he was  travelling in colliding with a tractor on Hambanthota-Andarawewa-Maththala old road yesterday (18).

The critically injured youth had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Hambanthota Hospital for treatment.

Tractor driver fled away from the scene after the incident and Hambanthota Police have launched a search operation to arrest the driver regarding the incident.st

Landslide Warnings Issued To Three Districts

National Disaster Management Center(DMC) has

issued landslide warnings to Ratnapura,Nuwara Eliya and Matara districts due to the rain prevailing in these Districts at present.

DMC has urged the public living in those districts  to be vigilant over the situation.

Several reservoirs belonging to Mahaweli including maussakale,castlereigh and dambulu oya have reached high water levels since yesterday (18) the DMC has stated.

Weligama,Matara due to a sudden fire erupted in the shop last night (17).

The fire brigade,The police and residents of the area had doused the fire before spreading it further.

An electic leak has been identified as the cause for the fire it has been revealed.
