Death Toll Due To The Adverse Weather Arisen To 224

The death toll due to the adverse weather conditions
prevailing in the country had arisen to 224 and 78 persons are still missing according to the latest statistics.

More than 700,000 persons have been displaced and affected due to the adverse weather the Disaster Management Center has stated.

Due to the landslides and floods 2093 houses have been completely destroyed and 11,056 houses have been partially destroyed in the adverse weather affected districts.

Around 25,245 displaced persons have been sheltered in 225 makeshift camps the Disaster Management Center has stated.

Police Have Arrested Three Youths With 500 Narcotic Tablets

Kaththankudy Police have arrested three youths with
500 narcotic tablets in their possession while transporting the tablets from Kalmunai to Pireyindhuraichanai area by Motorcycle on friday (02).

The estimated value of the narcotic tablets is around Rs.30,000 it has been revealed.

Kaththankudy Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.


A Passanger Was Killed And A Three Wheeler Driver Was Injured Due To Three Wheeler -Motor Car Collision

A passanger of a three wheeler was killed and the
driver has injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler-Motor Car collision occured at Maha Induruwa on Galle-Colombo main road.

The critically injured passenger and Three Wheeler driver have admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital for treatment and the passanger had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the hospital.The driver had been transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

The accident occurred when the Three Wheeler had attempted to overtake another Three Wheeler it has been revealed.

Kosgoda Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.


United States To Provide Rs.350 Million As Flood Relief Aid

United States government has decided to grant Rs.350
million to Sri Lanka as a flood relief according to the Presidential Media Division.

The grant was announced during a meeting held between President Maithripala Sirisena and United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Atul Keshap this evening (03).

The Aid will be used to provide  safe drinking water for the people affected due to adverse weather ,Emergancy Shelter Matarials,Hygiene Kits,Critical Health Care services and Home repair kits and to prevent diseases it has been announced.
