World Health Organization Has Appointed Amitabh Bachchan As Their New Goodwill Ambassador For Hepatitis In South East Asia

WHO Appoints Amitabh Bachchan As Goodwill Ambassador For HepatitisWorld Health Organization (WHO)has appointed legendary Hindi Cinema Actor Amitabh Bachchan as the new Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis in South East Asia Region. 

Announcing the new appointment of Legendary Actor in Mumbai,India the Director of South East Asia Region for WHO Dr.Poonam Kethrapal Singh has stated last Friday(12)that with the appointment of Amitabh Bachchan WHO is expected to help strengthen the WHO's efforts in reducing the high numbers of premature deaths and illnesses from viral Hepatitis which is not only causing  hardships to individuals and families but also impacting health and development across the region.

Through preventive viral Hepatitis kills 410,000 in the south east aria region every year ,mostly people in their productive years.Nearly 90 million people in the region suffering from chronic liver disease that is driving rates of liver cancer and cirrhosis in the region according to the latest statistics WHO.

“I am absolutely committed to the cause of hepatitis. As a person living with hepatitis B, I know the pain and sufferings that hepatitis causes. No one should ever suffer from viral hepatitis,” Mr Bachchan said at an event here organized by World Health Organization in Mumbai,India.

 Mr .Bachchan’s voice is one that is listened to by people across the country, regardless of cultural, social or economic background and can make real change possible. We have witnessed this in polio eradication,” Mr J P Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, India, said in a video message, while congratulating Mr Bachchan and WHO for the momentous partnership.

As WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis in the Region, Mr Bachchan will lend his voice and support to public awareness programmes that aim to scale up preventive measures and advocate for early diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis to reduce the disease burden.

President And Prime Minister Agreed To Do A Major Cabinet Reshuffle-Health Minister

President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister
Ranil Wikramasinghe have agreed to do a major itcabinet reshuffle that good for the country soon according to the Health Minister and co-cabinet spokesman Dr.Rajitha Senaratna.

According to the Minster the Proposed cabinet reshuffle will happen soon and it is need for the country.

He stated that he earlier told publicly a Cabinet reshuffle will not happen before Vesak and never said it will not happen at all.

Sri Lanka Navy And Paliyagoda Police Have Arrested Two Persons With Tramadol Tablets

Sri Lanka Navy along with the
Paliyagoda Police officers have arrested two persons who were transporting around 400 tablets of a medicinal drug "Tramadol"which should be only  issued to the patients under a prescription of a doctor ,through a Motorcycle in Mabola,Wattala area last evening (13).

The stock of the drug which some people are using as a narcotic had been handed over to the Paliyagoda police along with the two suspects and the Motorcycle for further investigations according to the Navy.

Airport Customs Officers Arrested A Pakistani. National With One Kilo Gramme Of Heroin

Airport customs officers have arrested a
32 year old Pakistani National who arrived in Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (14)with  one kilo gramme of Heroin variety Brown Sugar in his possession .

The suspect arrived in the Airport by  hidden the haul of Brown Sugar in his shoes according to the customs officers.

The street value of the narcotics is more than Rs.10 million it has been estimated

The suspect is due to produce before the Negambo Magistrate Court tomorrow  (15).
