Police Have Arrested Three Persons With 200 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Their Possession

Kalpitiya Police have arrested three persons with 200
Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in kolankanna area near the Wilpattu Wild Life sanctuary last evening (02).

The haul of Kerala Cannabis concealed in seven bags  and believed to be transported from India it has been reported.

The suspects who are in the ages of 29,32 and 45 and residents of Kalpitiya area are due to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate Court today (03).


A Dead Body Of A Giant Whale Washed Ashore In Matara

A dead body of a Giant Whale believed to be died after colliding with a ship has been washed ashore in Kamburugamuwa ,Matara (Southern Province)last Monday (01)night it has been reported.

Mirissa Wild Life Conservation Officers are currently engaged in the process of removing the dead body of the Whale.

Asthma Is On The Increase In Sri Lanka-Chest Physicians

As a result of the enviornmental  pollution and direct
and passive smoking spreading of Asthma is on the increase throughout the world including in Sri Lanka according to the Chest Physician Dr.Geethal  Perera.

Around 2 million persons in Sri Lanka is estimated as living with Asthma and the disease is spreading among Adults as well as children he has stressed.

Addressing a Press Briefing held on Asthma and it's effects to the society yesterday (02)at Government Information Department,Narahenpita Dr.Perera has stated that most of the Asthma patients in Sri Lanka even lost their lives due to taking Salbutamol drug alone for  longer petiod without other drugs prescribed by the doctors for Asthma.

A large number of patients have been admitted to hospitals annually with complications due to this  poor medication and government spends a large amount of money to treat such patients Chest Physician Dr.Dushantha Madagedera has stressed while addressing the briefing.

Therefore Asthma patients should take Salbutamole drug  as per prescribed by a chest physician he said.

Prevention of heat stress in workers is important. Employers should provide training to workers so they understand what heat stress is, how it affects their health and safety, and how it can be prevented.
