Police Have Used Tear Gas And Water Cannon To Disperse A University Student Protest March

Police have fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a large group of University Students attached to Inter University Students Federation  who staged a protest march towards Prime Minister's official Residence by demanding to close down the Private Medical Collage and against the decision taken to reduced the Bhikku Student intake to the Universities in Malabe(SAITM) at Lotus Road Junction in Galle Face this evening(04).

Police fired the tear gas and water canon after  the protesting students attempting  to blocked the road during the protest march .

Police have later closed the Galle Face road from the Lotus Road Junction.

Two Persons Were Killed And Two Injured Due To A Three Wheeler-Lorry Collision

Image result for accident graphicA Husband and Wife were killed and another two persons were injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler they were traveling in  collided with a Lorry  in Manampitiya area on Polonnaruwa-Welikanda main road today(04).


The injured were identified as the 13 and 17 year old daughters of the deceased couple.

The Joint Trade Union Alliance Of  Ceylon Electricity Board has decided to launch an Island Wide one day token strike from midnight tomorrow(05) to Midnight on Thursday(06) by demanding correct the salary anomalies of the Electricity Board workers and to stop taking revenge from the Board workers who involved in trade union actions .

The workers attached to power plants ,offices and sites attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board will participating in the strike according to the trade union alliance
