A Person Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A fifty five year old person was killed after colliding with a train travelling

 from Colombo Fort to Polgahawela near the Gampaha Railway station today(25).

The post mortem of the deceased was conducted in Gampaha Hospital.

Formerly A Boy Abducted A Girl-Now A Girl Friend Abducted Her Boy Friend

Police had arrested a group of youth including two females who had

abducted a person in Kelaniya area (Western Province) last noon(24).

The group belonging to the age group 18-25 had abducted the person in a Three Wheeler  as per the instructions of  one of the young females of the group who is the girl friend of the abducted person it has been revealed .

The abduction had  taken place as the abducted person and his girl friend  in the group  abducted him had an argument got angry with each other according to the Police .

The suspects are residents of pethiyagoda in Kelaniya area it has been revealed .

A Seventy Year Old Person Was Killed After A Van Crashed At Him

A seventy year old person was killed after a Van travelling to Anuradhapura

 from Thambuththegama area(North Central Province) crashed at him while walking along  the corner of the road in Thalawa area this morning(25).

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Thalawa area according to the Thalawa police.

Police had arrested the van driver over the accident .

Police Narcotics Bureau Arrested A Pakistani National With One Kilo Gramme Of Narcotics

Police narcotics Bureau officials had last night

(24)arrested a pakistani national with around one kilo gramme of Heroin variety brown sugar in his possession in Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

The pakistani national who was on the way to pakistan from qatar during his arrest , concealed the haul of Brown Sugar estimated as worth nearly Rs.ten million in his luggage according to the Police Narcotics Bureau.

The suspect is currently under interrogation.

A Corrupt Official Appointed For A Higher Post In The Health Ministry- Health Trade Unions Decided To Stay Blind Over The Issue

Although the Health Authorities show their willingness to combat fraud and corruption

in the Health sector including the Ministry Of Health ,appointing a medical officer involved in corrupt activites in large scale within the Health Sector during previous regime to an highly responsible post of Deputy Director General Of Laboratory Services puzzled many Health Officials in the Ministry itself  it has been reported.

The corrupted official who had the record of involved in corrupt activities in large scale with the help of multi national drug companies when he was the chairman of the National Drug Authority ,was banned for applying for the post of Deputy Director General Of Laboratory Services by the Public Services Commission based on his past background of corrupt activities and seniority few years ago.

The official was also found guilty of allegedly taken a salary entitled for a specialist grade Medical Officer for over a decade although he is not belonging to the specialist grade and involved in private practice as a doctor in Colombo which is illegal for an adminstrative officer of the Ministry.

The most unfortunate incident is that  the major Health Trade Union leaders  who are screaming that their unions are against fraud and corruption keep silent over the appointment of this corrupt official to the higher post of the Health Ministry last year (2016).
