Police Have Arrested A Person With 13 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested  a person with 13 kilo
grammes of Heroin in his possession in Nagalagamwediya  Grandpass area this afternoon (06).

The suspect was arrested while he was standing in the roadside with a black polythene bag concealed with haul of Heroin.

The value of the haul of Heroin detained estimated as RS.20 million .

Police are currently questioning the suspect .

Twenty Students In Matara District Hospitalized Due To A Food Poisoning

Around 20 students attached to a school
in Matara had been hospitalized last evening (05) due to a  suspected food poisoning  .

The students were admitted to the Tangalle Hospital and they are in stable condition according to the sources .

Four Month Old Infant Girl Died Due To Cut Injuries Received From Her Mother-Police

A four month old infant girl has died this morning g (06) after being admitted
to the Matale General Hospital following an assault by  her mother it has been reported.

The infant girl was hospitalized by a female neighbour in Kandagolla ,Matale (Central  Province)this morning in critical condition with cut injuries  on her body .However she had succumbed to her Injuries at the time of the admission .

Heavy Traffic Reported In Low Level Road In Meethotamulla And Colombo-Awissawella Road Due To A Protest

A heavy traffic is being reported from the low level road in Meethotamulla
 and Colombo -Awisssawel la road since this morning (06) due to a public protest in Meethotamulla area opposing the  dumping of garbage collected from Colombo to Meethotamulla Garbage Dumping site .

Due to the protest led by Kolonnawa UNP MP marikkar a section of the Colombo-Awissawella road UpTo Meethotamulla area has been closed for traffic since this morning.

Police have advised public to use an alternative routes for travelling .

MP Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero also participated in the protest attended by a large crowd in the area.
