Police Task Force Personal Arrested A Person With A Stock Of Wallapatta At Galle

The Special Police Task Force Personal have yesterday
(20)arrested a person with 18 kilo grammes of expensive Wallapatta or Gyrinops which used to make an expensive perfumes ,in his possession illegally at Neluva area in Galle (Southern Province).

The 40 year old suspect was arrested at a house in Neluva area as per a tip received by the Special Police Task Force Personal .

Former Army Commander Field Marshal Minister Sarath Fonseka Given A Five Hour Statement To CID

Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has yesterday (20) given a statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)regarding the murder of former Editor of the Sunday Leader Newspaper Lasantha Wikramathunge.

According to the  sources  Minister  Field Marshal Fonseka has given a statement to the CID which lasted for five hours .

The former Sunday Leader was assasinated by a gunman in  aththidiya at Mount Lavinia (Colombo)  on 08th of january 2009 while on hos way to the office.


A Person Was Killed And Six Others Injured Due To An Accident On Southern Expressway

 A 57 year old person was killed and six  others
injured and hospitalized after the Van they were travelling in colliding with a container truck parked near the Kurundugaha sathapma junction entry of Southern Expressway in the wee hours of this morning (21).

The injured were admitted to the karapitiya Teaching Hospital and one of them who was a resident in Panadura died after admission to the Hospital it has been reported.

The Van met with an accident while travelling to Tangalle (Southern Province)from Panadura (Colombo) according to the Elpitiya Police.

More Than One Million People Affected Due To The Dry Weather In Sri Lanka

The number of persons affected due to the dry
weather prevailing in most parts of  the country at present recorded as one million fourty one thousand and six hundrad ninty according to the Disaster Managment Center.

These persons belonging to 251,310 families the center has stated.

Meanwhile several drought hit areas in the country have experienced rain since yesterday (20)and more than 75 mili meters of rain can be expected from some parts of the coumtry during today (21) according to the Meteorology Department.
