Sri Lanka To Commemorate World AIDS Day With AIDS Day Walk

Tomorrow is  "World AIDS Day ".Globally World AIDS
Day will be commemorated  tomorrow  under the theme " Handsup For HIV Prevention.

Since the first AIDS Patient was detected around 88 million HIV Positives had been reported globally and around 35 million died from HIV/AIDS up to now according to the statistics.

Like in other countries Sri Lanka too commemorate  this day tomorrow with a AIDS Day walk begins from Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine in Colombo to Campball park grounds - Colombo and holding the national AIDS Day commemorative  at the grounds.

Around 2500 health officials and activists are due to participating in  this walk begins in front of the Health Ministry at 8.30 a.m tomorrow according to the National STD/AIDS Control programme.

At the national AIDS Day commemorative scheduled to he held in Campball Park tomorrow morning a national stratagic communication initiative and the  road map for the activities related to stop spreading HIV/AIDS  in Sri Lanka by the year 2025 will be launched.

Most Of The OPD Clinics In Government Hospitals Disrupted Due To The Doctors Strike

OPD (Out Door Patients Department)Clinics in most of
the government hospitals had been paralyzed today (30) due to the one day Island Wide token strike launched by the government hospital doctors and dental surgeons by opposing budget proposals-2017 and Malabe Private Medical Collage.

Most of the OPD Patients reported as refrained from attending government hospital clinics today due to the earlier announcement made by doctor's unions regarding the strike action.

The Specialist Doctors have conducted their clinics as usual without any disruption it has been reported.

The strike is due to end at 8 a.m tomorrow (01),

World Health Organization Has Officially Awarded Malaria Elimination Certificatte To Sri Lanka

The World Health Organization (WHO) has today (30) officially awarded the Malaria elimination certificatte to Sri Lanka at a function held at Hotel Kingsbury in Colombo.

With this Sri Lanka becomes the second country in the South East Asia Region received the Malaria Elimination Certificatte after Maldives.

The WHO's Regional Director General for South East Asia  Dr.Poonam Khetrapal Singh had officially presented the Malaria elimination certificatte to Sri Lanka's Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne at the occassion.

WHO has named Sri Lanka as a country eliminated  Malaria during the recently concluded South East Asian Health Ministers Conference held in Colombo .

Speeking at the occassion WHO's South East Asian Director General Dr.Poonam Khetrapal Singh has praised Sri Lanka for eliminating Malaria and for it's excellent health care services provided to public.

Two Persons Were Killed And Another Two Were Critically Injured Due To A Lorry-Three Wheeler Collision At Wellavaya

Two persons were killed and another two were
critically injured and hospitalized due to a lorry-three wheeler head on  collision occurred today (30) at thanamalvila in Wellavaya area.

Four critically injured persons including the three wheeler driver had been admitted to wellawaya hospital following the accident and three wheeler driver and another had succumbed to their injuries after admission.

The other two critically injured persons were transferred to Monaragala Hospital for further treatment.

Police have arrested the lorry driver regarding the accident.
