A Female Bank Employee Was Killed Following A Speeding Bus Crashed Into The Bus Stop In Ahungalle

A female bank employee who is a sportswoman had been killed this morning when a semi luxary bus arrived in from Matara was crashed into the Bus Stop of Ahungalle(Southern Province) where she along with her father  awaiting for a bus to Colombo  it has been reported.

The speeding semi luxary bus first crashed into a nearby wall and after the bus stop in Ahungalle  by knocking down the female bank employee according to the Police.However the father of the deceased escaped without injuries the Police have stated.

The female bank employee awaiting for a bus to travel to Colombo to attend a sports event at the time of the accident.

Police are investigating in to arrest the Bus Driver regarding the accident.

UNP MP Maharoof And Three Others Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Accident

Four persons including the United National Party MP M.A.M Maharoof were injured and hospitalized due to the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into  a lorry in the  wee hours of this morning.


The injured MP,his son,daughter and the secretary were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital for treatment.


The vehicle was travelling from Kandy to Trincomalee at the time of the accident.

Navy Personal Have Arrested A Person With 300 Tablets Of Prescribed "Tramadol" Drug At Handala Area

Navy Personal in Welisara area  have today(08)arrested a person with around 300 prescribed pain killer medicinal tablets  "Tramadol" in his possession at a filling station in Handala Area.

The suspect was arrested as per a tip received by the Navy Personal and he along with the  stock of tablets were handed over to the Mahabage Police for future course of action according to Navy.

"Tramadol" is a narcotic like pain killer medicinal drug prescribed for severe pain and whenever the dose of this drug changed breathing may stop according to medical sources.Misuse of this drug may result  in addiction the sources have stated.

Police Task Force Personal Arrested Four Persons With Waste Tea

The Police Special Task Force Personal had today (08)arrested two persons who were transporting a stock of Waste Tea from a lorry at Sapugaskanda,Makola area.

As per the information receieved from them the Task Force Personal had raided a storage facility  which stored  waste tea and arrested another two persons along with 48,160 kilo grammes of waste tea it has been reported.

The suspects were released on police bail and ordered to appear before Mahara Magistrate Court on 14th of October.


A Female Had Been Killed And Her Two Small Children Were Injured Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A female had been killed and her two small children were injured and hospitalized due to a wild elephant attack occurred in Dangaswewa at Thanthirimale (In North Central Province) area today (08).

The injured children of the ages seven and three were admitted to the Anuradhapura General Hospital for treatment.

Thanthirimale Police are conducting Further investigations on the incident.
