An Unidentified Gunman Had Shot And Killed A Businessman At Ambalangoda

An unidentified gunman has shot and killed a 52 year old businessman at wathugedera area in Ambalangoda todY (18).

The police are conducting an investigation to trace the identity of the suspect who fled away from the scene after the shooting the businessman.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of pattiwatta in Balapitiya Area.

Government Has Reduced The Special Commodity Levy Imposed On Imported Sugar

The government has reduced the special commodity levy of Rs.30 imposed on imported Sugar by Rs.29.75 with effect from midnight tonight.

Accordingly the new special commodity levy imposed on imported Sugar will be 0.25 cents.

Ministry Of Health To Recruit 1034 Post Intern Doctors To Hospitals With Shortage Of Doctors

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indeginous Medicine has decided to recruit 1034 post intern doctors to government hospitals which are faced with shortage of doctors with effect from 26th of July.

These doctors are to be recruited under the programme launched by Ministry Of Health to expand qualititive health service to rural areas.

The function to hand over the appointments to these doctors will be held at BMICH on 26th of July according to the Ministry.

Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe Has Been Remanded Until 01st Of August

The former minister Rajapakshe was detained by FCID over the charges of misappropriation  of "Divi Naguma"Department funds.

Detained Hambanthota MP Namal Rajapakshe Has Been Released On Bail

Image result for released on bail in wordsHambanthota District MP and former president Mahinda Rajapakshe's eldest son Namal Rajapakshe who was detained on 11th of July has been released on bail today(18) by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.

The MP who was detained by FCID over a financial irregularity has been released on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and three personal bails of Rs.500,000 each after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate.

As the MP was detained for financial fraud the Magistrate has banned him from going abroad and taken his passport under court custody.
