Strict Laws Including Prison Sentence Required To Combat Dengue-Minister Mustapha


Strict laws should be introduced for those who are maintaining dengue mosquito breeding places within their premises including prison sentence according to minister of provincial councils and local government bodies faizar mustapha.

Without strict laws spreading of dengue could not be controlled he has. stated.He has revealed these facts while addressing a dengue review meeting held in hector kobbakaduwa research center in.Colombo .
According to the latest statistics available more than 21.000 dengue patients have been reported from.the island during last six months of this year with 35 deaths.

Nine Persons Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Accident Occurred On Southern Expressway

Nine persons including two females were injured and hospitalized  following an accident occurred on the southern expressway near millaniya area today(03)according to the police.

The injured were admitted to the nagoda hospital for treatment.


The accident  occurred after a van the injured were traveling in skidded off the road and hit the fence the police have stated. The accident occurred  when the driver was a sleep.



Government To Make Amendments To The Current Tax Systems In The Country

The government has decided to introduce an amendments to the current tax systems in the country as the general public is facing enormous difficulties due to the implementation
of new tax systems .

Accordingly government is due to take steps to introduce amendments to the existing tax systems in the country from tomorrow(04)government sources have stated.

Due to the increasing of value added tax(VAT) by 4% from 11% to 15%  with effect from 02nd of May 2016 ,the prices of essential goods have risen and both the public as well as shop owners have faced difficulties due to this situation it has been reported.

Many shop owners in the country last week have staged a protest campaign against the increasing of value added tax.

Three Persons Got Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Brawl In Galle

Three persons got injured and hospitalized due to a brawl occurred between two factions  at dodanduwa in Galle District today(02) Hikkaduwa Police have revealed.

As a result of the brawl three persons who had received cut injuries have been admitted to the karapitiya teaching hospital for treatment.

Hikkaduwa Police are investigating on the incident.
