Former UPFA MP Sajin Vaas Was Detained By CID And Remanded Until 05th Of July

The former United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena was detained today(27)by Criminal Investigations Department(CID) over an allegation leveled against him on defrauding a private company director over Rs.600 million.

The former UPFA MP who was produced before Colombo Magistrate Court after detained has been ordered to remand until 05th of July by the Magistrate.

MP Gunawardena who was earlier charged for misusing vehicles belonging to presidential secretariat is due to produce before Colombo Chief Magistrate again on 05th of July.

A Female Was Killed And Seven Passengers Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Jeep-Motor Bicycle-Three Wheeler Collission

A 39 year old female was killed and seven persons were injured and hospitalized due to a Jeep.Motor Bicycle and Three Wheeler collision occurred at Eheliyagoda Town early this morning according to the Police.

The injured were admitted to Awissawella Hospital while the deceased female was succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to the hospital it has been reported.

The accident has occurred as the Jeep has crashed with a Motor Bicycle and a Three wheeler arrived behind the Police have stated.

Total Number Of Dengue Patients Reported This Year Exceeded 20,000 With 31 Deaths

The total number of Dengue Patients reported this year has been exceeded 20,000 now 
and around 31 patients have died up to date due to the disease  according to Ministry Of Health ,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine .


As the Dengue has become an epidemic at the moment the Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the authorities to implement a continuous house to house inspection progrmme island wide to search and destroy mosquito breeding places   with effect from tomorrow(27) .The tri forces ,police and civil defense personal are due to handle this house to house inspection programme and Health Minister has personally requested the Defense Ministry Secretary today to provide sufficient number of  officers from these forces for the programme.

According to the Hospital Sources a large number of Dengue Patients are currently receiving treatment from three government hospitals namely Colombo National,IDH Fever and Maharagama Hospitals and majority of them numbering 60 patients are being currently at IDH Fever Hospital.

Dengue among school children is on the increase and a large number of Dengue Patients are being admitted to Borella Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital daily due to Dengue it has been reported.

As the mosquito population in recent flood affected areas is on the increase steps have been taken to destroy mosquito breeding places in those areas the Health Ministry has stated.A special three day island wide dengue control programme is also due to be implemented from 30th of June to 02nd of July .
