Prevailing Dry Weather Condition To Be Eased Following Showers In Coming Days -Meteorology Department

The prevailing Dry Weather Condition in the country will be eased as showers or thunder showers due to occur at several places in Western,Central,Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts beginning from today(27) according to Meteorology Department.

The showers or thunder showers will be occurred in the afternoons assisted with temporary strong winds the Met Department has announced.

Public is advised to take precautionary measures during showers to minimize the damages caused by lightning. 

Presidential Commission On Missing Persons Has Received More Than 20,000 Complaints Regarding Missing Persons Since It's Establishment

Since it's establishment in 2013 the Presidential Commission to Investigate the Complaints Regarding Missing Persons has received more than 20,000 Complaints including around 5000 Complaints regarding missing of Security Personal according to the Commission.

The three member Presidential Commission has conducted a Public Sitting on Missing Persons at Mannar(In Northern Province) today(27) and conducted a public  sittings at Mulativu on 26th of March.

The Commission comprising of  Former High Court Judge Maxwell Parakrama Paranagama,Priyanthi Suranjana Vidyaratne and Mano Ramanathan.

Seven Persons Arrested With Three Kilo Grammes Of Heroin At Katunayake Air Port

Seven Persons including Three Sri Lankans and Four Maldivian Nationals have been arrested by the Police Narcotic Bureau today(27) while they attempted to smuggle Three Kilo Grammes Of Heroin to Sri Lanka.

These arrests were made at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Air Port.

Sudden Power Failures Occurred In Some Parts Of The Country And Power Fully Restored After Three Hours-Ceylon Electricity Board

Sudden Power Failures had occurred at  some areas  in Southern,Central,North Central and Uva Provinces this evening and after around three hours Ceylon Electricity Board has managed to restore the power supply fully to those areas according to the Electricity Board


Power Failures had occurred in Some areas in Southern Province,Kandy,Nuwara Eliya, Kurunagala,Polonnaruwa and Badulla Districts it has been reported.

The cause for these power failures not yet been revealed.
