Use Of Polythene With Less Than 20 Microns Banned With Effect From Today(01)

The use of Polythene with less than 2o microns including Polythene Lunch Sheets use for wrap up food items and Polythene Bags will be banned with effect from today(01) according to Central Environment Authority.

Those who are using these Polythene with less than 20 microns will be either fined not less than Rs.10,000 or can be imprisoned under the law the authority has said.

Central Environment Authority is due to carry out raids throughout the island by searching those who are still producing and using polythene products by violating it's ban.

According to the National Project On Waste Management in Sri Lanka around 15 million Polythene Sheets using for wrap up food items and 20 million Polythene Bags are being disposed to the environment daily.

Nine Passengers Have Been Injured Due To A Private Bus Collision At Maradana

Nine Passengers have been injured and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital this morning due to  two private buses collided each other at Panchikawatte,Maradana  (In Colombo) .

The passengers admitted to the hospital have received minor injuries according to the Police.Maradana Police are conducting investigations on the incident. 

Prices Of Five Brands Of Cigarettes Have Been Increased By Rs.1-2 From Today(01)

Five Brands of Cigarettes have been increased by Rs.1-2 with effect from today (01) according to Ceylon Tobacco Corporation.

Accordingly the Price Of Bristol has been increased by Rs.1 from Rs.21 to Rs.22,Price Of Gold Leaf Cigarette has been increased by Rs.2 from Rs.33 to Rs.35,Dunhill Switch Cigarette by Rs.2 ,From Rs.35 to Rs.37,Capstan Cigarette by Rs.1 from Rs.10 to Rs.11 and Benson And Hedges Cigarette by Rs.2 from Rs.35 to Rs.37.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority Had Earned A Recordable Rs.40 Million Through A Vehicle Auction Held Yesterday(31)

Sri Lanka Ports Authority had yesterday(31) earned a record able  Rs.40 million through auction used vehicles according to the Ports Authority.

Fifty Used Vehicles removed from Sri Lanka Ports Authority and thirty three related equipment have been sold at this auction which has done through a tender procedure.

In an early occasions the used vehicles belongs to Ports Authority had  auctioned for lower prices according to the Sources.
