Sri Lankan Youth Parliamentary Group Had Visited China For A Two Day Study Tour

A group of young Parliamentarians comprising 19 members of all political parties have visited Chinese Capital Beijing on 27th and 28th of October to study the Political and Legislative System of China.

During their  visit the Sri Lankan Parliamentary Group had met with higher officials of Chinese Government  and the Officials had introduced the Sri Lankan Parliamentarian Group  the Political And Legislative System of China, China's Friendly Policy Towards Sri Lanka and the achievements of development in that Country during past decades.

The Youth Parliamentarian Group led by Deputy Minister Of Mahaweli Development And Empowerment Anuradha Jayaratne had visited Chinese Cities of Shenzhen,Kunming and Guan Zhou .




A Youth Was Killed Due To A Private Bus -Motor Bicycle Collision

A youth was killed due to a Private Bus-Motor Bicycle Collision occurred today (31)at Balummahara Area  in Gampaha(Western Province).

A\Private Bus travelling to Nittambuwa from Colombo collided with a Motor Bicycle travelling from opposite side it has been reported.The youth who drove the Motor Bicycle had critically injured due to the Accident and succumbed to his injuries on admission to Gampaha Hospital.

The victim was 19 year old youth who reside in Ganemulla Area(In Western Province).

The Private Bus Driver has been arrested by Police regarding the Accident.

Three High Ranking Customs Officers Who Were Arrested By Bribery Commission Over Trying To Accept A Bribe Have Been Further Remanded

The three high ranking Customs Officers who were arrested by the Bribery Commission Officers on 15th of October while accepting a Rs.125 million as a bribe have been further remanded by Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday(30) until 13th of November.

The imprisoned Customs Officers were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday(30)

The money that the three high rank officers planned  to accept from a Foreign Country Representative is said to be largest ever bribe nabbed by Bribery Commission..

By Preventing An Unwanted Pregnancy Would Prevent 13% to 15% Of Maternal Death in Sri Lanka.-Family Planning Association.

By Preventing an unwanted pregnancies amongst Sri Lankan Women it would prevent 13%-15% Maternal Deaths in the country easily according to Sri Lanka Family Planning Association(FPA).


Unwanted Pregnancies,Unsafe Abortions and Risk Pregnancies are identified  as main risk factors that causing the maternal morbidity and mortality in Sri Lanka the Association has said.

According to FPA it is 60 times less costly to provide a family planning method to prevent an unwanted pregnancy compared to managing complications of an unsafe abortion.

Also for every Rs.100 spent on family planning method  the government saves as much as Rs.2000 in  reduced expenditure on health,education and social service FPA has stated.
