Disaster Management Center Has Advised Motorists Travelling Through Southern Expressway To Be in Alert On An Earth Slip

The Disaster Management Center(DMC) has today (01)advised the motorists travelling through Southern Expressway to be on alert as there's a risk of an earth slip near the 114 Kilo Meter Post between Galle and Matara(In Southern Province).

Motorists travelling through Southern Expressway between Galle and Matara are advised to pay attention to the sign boards .

State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Destroys Rs.300 Million Worth Drugs Annually -Health Minister

The State Pharmaceuticals Corporation(SPC) destroys around Rs.300 Million worth Medicinal Drugs annually as the  validity of which has expired according to Minister Of Health ,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

These medicinal drugs which are identified as non essential drugs imported for government hospitals and State Owned Pharmacies(Osu Sal) are  being expired at the stores Dr.Senaratne has said."We are trying to correct this situation as a large sum of money annually wasted for importing these non essential drugs over the past years.However still the officials of SPC haven't done anything to correct this situation "He has stressed.

Health Minister has revealed these facts  at a press briefing held today(01) in  Government Information Department - Narahenpita(In Colombo District).

CID Has Requested Minuwangoda Magistrate To Drop Charges Against First Two Suspects Of Five Year Old Girl's Murder

The Criminal Investigation Department(CID) has today(01) requested the Minuwangoda Magistrate to drop  charges against the first two suspects who are in remand in connection with rape and murder of five year old Seya Sadewmini of Kotadeniyawa as the DNA found in girl's body does not match with these suspects.

The DNA Test Reports of the two suspects of the case ,a 17 year old school boy and another resident in kotadeniyawa area have been handed over to the Minuwangoda Magistrate yesterday(01).

The DNA Test Report of the main suspect of  girl's murder "Kondaya" who is in remand has not yet issued.

Meanwhile the case filed against the first two suspects of  girl's rape and murder  is due to be summoned at Minuwangoda Magistrate Court tomorrow(02).

"Just because girls are loitering in public places by wearing western cloths and applied lipstick not mean they are subjected to be suspects as prostitutes "he said.

Addressing a Media Forum meeting"HIV/AIDS and Advocacy" held at the Auditorium Of Sri Lanka Family Planning Association in Colombo -07 today  ,the former Police Media Spokesman has said the reason behind arresting innocent girls by suspecting them as prostitutes is none other than a lack of knowledge police officers are having regarding  prostitutes.

"Sometimes Police have arrested  persons who are carrying condoms with them .  Condom is a medical device and one can't categorized a person carrying a condom as  a prostitute .Condom is not a symbol to identify a prostitute as not only prostitutes but normal people too sometimes may have carry a condom with them "he has stressed.
