Water Board Assured The Drinking Water Supplying To Colombo And Suburbs Is Safe-Environmental Groups Claimed Arsenic Level In Supplying Water Exceeded It's Normal Level

Although an Environmental Groups have claimed that the Arsenic Level of  Kelaniya River which supplying the drinking water to consumers in Colombo and it's suburbs has exceeded the normal level ,The National Water Supply And Drainage Board has today(11)  announced  the drinking water supplying to Colombo and it's suburbs is not contaminated with Arsenic or any other toxic chemical .

The drinking water supplying to Colombo is safe the Water Board has assured.However Jayantha Kariyawasam of an environmental group has told the media yesterday(10) the Arsenic Level in Kelaniya River has exceeded it's normal level and the highest arsenic level has been reported from the water samples taken near the Ambathale Water Purification Reserve .

The toxic chemicals released as by products by the factories situated around kelaniya river had been identified as the main cause for this situation Mr.Kariyawasam has said.

Four Armed Robbers Have Robbed Rs.1.5 Million In Cash From A State Bank In Hanwella

Four Armed Robbers who entered a State Owned Bank branch situated in Hanwella ( In Colombo District)this evening have robbed Rs.1. 5 million in cash and fled away according to Police.The robbers who were armed with guns arrived  from two motor bikes and entered the bank building by wearing helmets it has been reported.

After entering the bank building  robbers have attacked the security guard who was there inside the bank at that time and snatched his fire arm before the robbery.The injured Security Guard was admitted to Kosgama-Salawa Hospital for treatment.
