The New Cabinet Ministers Have Sworn In

Presidential Secretariat
The new Cabinet  Ministers of  the  unitary government have  sworn in before the President Maithripala Sirisene at a function held in presidential Secretariat Colombo this noon.
The new cabinet comprising MP'S belonging to  both the governing UNP and opposition UPFA Parties.
Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasingha has  sworn in as Minister of National Policy and Economic  Affairs.

TNA Strongly Opposes Division Of Sri Lanka- Opposition Leader R.Sampanthan

"The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is strongly opposes the division of Sri Lanka " according to the TNA Leader and newly elected opposition  leader of the parliament R.Sampanthan.

Speaking to BBC Sandeshaya Programme today the opposition leader has said that he can do the similar things that a Sinhalese Opposition Leader can do without any difficulty.

"TNA will not allow to divide Sri Lanka at any cost" he has further said.

The name of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna(JVP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been proposed to the post of Chief Opposition Whip according to sources.JVP Leader's name was first  proposed for the chief opposition whip post during the party leaders meeting held recently sources have said.

However the Speaker Karu Jayasuriye  still not yet officially  announced who will be appointed  for the chief opposition whip post.

Marvan Atapattu Has Resigned From Sri Lankan Cricket Team's Head Coach Post

The head coach of the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team Marvan Atapattu has resigned from his post today (03)after the Sri Lankan Team's poor performances against neighboring Pakistan and India during the recently concluded Test Match Series .

The Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Committee Chairman Sidath Wettimuni has been  accepted his resignation according to the sources.The Sri Lankan National Cricket Team had lost back to back Test Match Series Against Pakistan and India which played in Sri Lanka within last three months.

Marvan Atapattu who was the former opening batsman of  both Sri Lankan Test and One Day Cricket Teams and rated as one of the most successful  Cricketers  Sri Lanka had produced in both formats of the game and technically  corrected batsman ,has taken over Sri Lankan Team's Head Coach Post in last September after former Sri Lankan Cricket Team Coach Paul Farbrace has taken over the Assistant Coach Post of England Cricket Team.
