Former Minister Basil Rajapakshe And Three Other Officers Were Remanded Further Until 27th Of May

The Imprisoned former Minister Of Economic Development MP Basil Rajapakshe and three of his former officers were further remanded until 27th of May by the Kaduwela Magistrate today(20).

The Kaduwela Magistrate has ordered to remand the former minister along with the former secretary to the Economic Development Ministry Dr.Nihal Jayathilake,The Director of Divi Naguma Programme R.R.K Ranawake and the Regional Director of Divi Naguma Programme Bandula Thilakasiri over the misusing of public funds belonging to the divi naguma programme after they were produced before the court this morning.

Former Minister Rajapakshe who is also the younger brother of former president Mahinda Rajapakshe was transferred to the Cardiology Unit Of Colombo National Hospital yesterday from the Merchant Ward after he  complained of a minor chest pain. 

Around 127 Protesters Were Arrested For Involved In Unlawful Protest Near Jaffna Court Complex-Police

Around 127 persons have been arrested this evening for involved in unlawful protest near Jaffna Court Complex,damaging public property and assaulting police officers according to the police.

The tense situation has occurred near Jaffna Court this morning when  the suspects of the rape and murder case of a girl in Kayts(Northern Province) were brought to the court.People gathered there behaved violently and they were also damaged public property as a protest against the suspects.

Police have used tear gas to dispersed the protesters.The
Protesters were involved in a clash with the Police Officers as well and four police office were sustained injuries as a result.

Police have arrested Nine persons for kidnapping,rape and murder of a 18 year old school girl in Kayts who was kidnapped whilest on her way to school. .All suspects were produced before the court today.

Around 1508 Estimated HIV Positives Living In Sri Lanka Yet To Be Identified-UNAIDS Rep.In Sri Lanka

The UNAIDS has estimated that around 3240 Persons living with HIV/AIDS are there in Sri Lanka  the UNAIDS Representative in Sri Lanka Dr.Dayanath Ranathunge has said.Out of these persons living with HIV/AIDS around 1732 have been identified and 1508 yet to be identified he has revealed.

Addressing a media seminar on HIV/AIDS held at UNAIDS Office in Colombo this morning Dr.Ranathunge has said that UNAIDS Office in Sri Lanka has targeted to eliminate HIV/AIDS from Sri Lanka by the year 2030 and HIV/AIDS Preventive Programmes are planned to achieve that target.

Sri Lanka is the number one country in South and South East Asia Region that completely prevent transmitting HIV/AIDS Virus from mother to child and last year alone around 8 HIV Infected Mothers gave birth to  Children without transmitting the virus to their 
  infants he has stressed.This success is achieved due to the free effective HIV Drugs and medical treatment given to  HIV Infected pregnant mothers  through the Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Control Programme of Sri Lanka Dr.Ranathunge has further said.

Annual War Hero Commemorating Ceremony To Be Held Tomorrow(20)

The Annual War Hero Commemorating Ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Cenotaph(Ranawiru Movement)in  Sri Jayawardenepura,Kotte tomorrow(20) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

More than 2500 family members of the fallen war heroes 100 each per district are due to be participated this ceremony according to the Ministry Of Defense.This Annual War Hero Commemorating Ceremony is being  organized by the Raa Viru (War Heroes) Authority under the auspices  of Ministry Of Defense .

The War Victory Ceremony organized by the Government to commemorate the War victory achieved   by Sri Lankan Armed Forces in 2009 by defeating LTTE Rebels was held in Matara Today.
