Sri Lankan Police And Army In Offensive Against Underworld Gangs

After defeating the LTTE Rebels ,Sri Lankan Police and Army together launched an Offensive to combating the Underworld Gangs.Under this Offensive, Forces identified some Six Powerful Underworld Gangs who are involved in Drug Trafficking,Kidnapping,Robberies and various other Crimes in Sri Lanka.
President Mahinda Rajapaksha insisted his Cabinet Ministers last weak not to intervene into this Offensive to allow the Mission to continue their work Independently. New Chief Of Defense Staff and former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka too said that they expect to finishing this offensive in a short Period of Time.

The Prices Of Milk Powder Reduced -Wheat Flour Prices Up

Government today announced the Price reduction of Imported Milk Powder and the Price Hike of the Wheat Flour.According to the Price reduction of Milk Powder A pack One Kilo Gramme is reduced by Rs.37 and 400 Gramme Pack is reduce by Rs.15.

Meanwhile the Bakers Union warned that the Price of Bread may be increase due to the new price hike of the Wheat Flour.

Two Cuban Epidemiologists To Visit Sri Lanka Tomorrow

Two Cuban Epidemiologists are due to arrive Sri Lanka tomorrow to examine the ways of using the Cuban Made BTI Bacteria which destroy the Dengue Mosquito Larvae and to speeding up the Process of importing it to the Island.The Two Epidemiologists who are due to arrive here are Senior Cuban Epidemiologist Dr.Armian Martinez and Assistant Epidemiologist Dr.Yellina.

These two Epidemiologists are due to visit few Areas where Dengue Fever is spreading fast and after inspecting it due to decide how to use the Bacteria in Sri Lanka.The Duo are due to hold discussions with Sri Lankan Health Ministry Officials After they arrive in Sri Lanka.

UN Office In Colombo Filed A Petition Against Arresting UN Staff Members

A Fundamental Rights Petition was filed in the Supreme Court today by the United Nations Office in Colombo over the alleged arrest and detention of the two of UN local Staff Members by the Government Forces.UN Staffers are seeking equaly protection of the law and Freedom from torture.

The Accused Of Acid Throwing Case In Sydney Refused Bail

The Man who was arrested by the Australian Police over the Acid Attack on two Sri Lankan students was refused bail and remanded till 10th of September by the Paramatta Local Court in Sydney Yesterday.

The Accused Amala Thepan Srikanthraja was charged in to two accounts with inflicting body harm and intent to murder was proved of involved in the Acid Attack on last May by throwing Sodium Hydroxide over two Sri Lankan Students in Sydney.The two students are having Burn injuries and they are recovering according to the Australian Police.DNA Tests carriedout also proved the involvement of the accused in to the incident.

Sri Lankan Swine Flu Tally Reached Fourty.

The total number of Swine Flu Patients reported from Sri Lanka risen to 40 now as another Three New Swine Flu Patients were reported yesterday who are returned from Australia and the Dubai.

Ninety Percent of Swine Flu Patients reported so far are Sri Lankans who returned from Australia.Others were returned from Canada,United Kingdom , USA and from Philiphenes.Currently there Seven Swine Flu Patients getting treatment at the Fever Hospital.

Health Ministry To Transfer 50 Cancer Hospital Nurses Who Restricted Chemo Therapy Treatment

Ministry of Health in a stunning move decided to transfer some 50 Nurses of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital who are launched an action to restrict Chemo Therapy treatment for Cancer Patients citing Safety Problems.These Nurses are replaced by 50 New Nurses who are already recruited to the Cancer Hospital today.

According to the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Ajith Mendis These Nurses who are subjected to transfer are serving more than four years at the Cancer Hospital and they are transfer according to the State Employees Transfer System.Some of these Nurses serving around nine years at the Hospital he stressed.

Meanwhile Protesting against the Ministry Decision The Government Nursing Officers Associattion says transfering Senior Nurses of the Cancer Hospital will lead to breakingdown of Patients Care of the Hospital.Nursing Staff of the Cancer Hospital restricted the Chemo Therapy treatment from 500 Patients to 300 since last weak .They said the provided Safety Equipments not up to standard to deliver Quality treatment for the Patients.

Interest Rate Of EPF To Be Increased

 The interest rates paid for Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be increased to 13 percent with effect from 2023 according to the State Min...
