Nurse Attached To Udayakattur Hospital Killed Due To Artillary Fire


Government Nursing Officers Association Said that A Nurse Attached to the Udayakattur Temporary Hospital in the Mulativu District was Killed To Day Due to the Artillery Fire.Twenty Four Year Old Thawarasa Kavidgadani Who Joined the Nursing Service Five And Half Months Ago Killed on an Artillary Attack hit On the Hospital the President of the Nursing Officers Association Mr.Saman Rathnapriya Says.He already Requested the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage To Take Measures to Transfer the Body of the Deceased Nurse to Vavuniya Hospital.
The Association Further Demanded the Government,and The Red Cross to Intervene the Releasing of Around One Hundred Fifty Health Services Personal Taken as Hostages By the LTTE and Urged LTTE to Released them Immediately.

Health Secretary Dissolved The Technical Evaluation Committee Of The Junitorial Tender



Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage Friday Dissolved the Technical Evaluation Commitee(TEC) Appointed for the Janitorial Services Tender of the Thirty Seven Government Hospitals Last October.The Committee Was Recommended to Offer the Tender for the Highest Bid and Due to this Controversial Recommendation Secretary Dissolved the Committee and will Appoint a Fresh Committee for the Tender soon Health Ministry Sources Said.dissolved Committee was Compromised with Five Members Including of an Additional Secretary of the Ministry. The Rs.240 Million worth Tender will Offer for the Services of Thirty Seven Government Hospitals Attached to the Ministry.
The Previous Contract Offered to a Contractor Regarding the Janitorial Services of the Hospitals Expired Last September and the Health Ministry Called Tender Applications for the Services Last October.But Failed to Complete the Procedure Due to the Biased Activities of the Chairman of the Technical Evaluation Committee who is in the View that the Tender Should be Awarded to the Highest Bid and Influenced Other Members to Agreeing His Decision.However Other Four Members of the Committee are Refused to Accept his Decision and It Resulted the Sending Committee Recommendation to the Public Finance Commission Seeking An Advise.

Two UN Employees Released And Thirteen Are Still In The LTTE Custody
