A Section Of The Gampaha Town Had Been Closed After Identifying A Corona Cluster At The Common Market

 A section of the Gampaha town (Western Province ) along with all trade stalls and institutions located in the area had been closed down last evening (09) until further notice ,After identifying 58 Corona positives. From the Common market at Gampaha town  during a three day period according to Health Authorities .


Accordingly around 200 trade stalls and all institutions in a section of the Gampaha town had been closed along with all sub toads in the area under health instructions .All non essential travel to the Gampaha town has been banned due to the risk of spreading corona virus in the area  authorities had stated .

This decision has been taken at a meeting held last evening (09)under the patronage of Gampaha Mayor Eranga Senanayake ."PCR "tests are scheduled to be performed on all employees attached to the Institutions in the closed section and of those working at trade stalls in the area to identify the contacts of the Corona positives reported do far the Authorities have stressed .


Another 975 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Yesterday (09)

According to the National Covid -19 Prevention Center ,A total of 975 Corona positives had been reported yesterday (09) in the island ,Increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported do far to 71,211 


Accordingly all these positives were contacts of Previous Corona positives the Center has stated .However Public Health Inspectors have stated that clusters related to the   most of the new Corona infections reported these days are unknown .

At the moment 5788 Corona positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers. .

Five Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Yesterday (0

 A total of 05 Corona Deaths had been reported yesterday (09) ,in the country ,increasing the total number of Corona deaths that had been reported so far to 370 according to the National Covid -19 Prevention Center .


Accordingly 03 Males and 02 Females resided in kapuliyadda(Kandy),Katawala (Kandy),Moratuwa,Kurunagala and Anuradhapura areas had died due to to the Complications of non communicable diseases they have suffered from caused by Corona infection the center has stated .

The deceased were of the ages 45,81,56,73and 74 years old it has been revealed .

Local Authorities Have Different Plans To Vaccinate Different Age Groups Agsinst Corona

 Although Health Authorities have earlier predicted that Sri Lankans above 60 years old will be vaccinated with Anti Corona vaccines during first week of March ,the State Minister of Pandamics and Covid  prevention Dr Sudarshani fernandopulle  has today (08)stated that every Sri Lankan citizen of the age group 30-60 will be vaccinated with Corona vaccine in first week of March. 

However the state Minister didn't mention regarding the vaccines use for this purpoSe.

Meanwhile Ministry of Education has today stated that all teachers in Local schoo9


ls will be vaccinated with Anti Corona vaccines either during end of this month else first week of March .Also Parliamentary officials too had stated that there's a plan to vaccinate Parliament staff against corona .

Although Government had stated it will receive the ordered 8 million .doses of "Covishield  "vaccine from India soon It's not clear whether Sri Lanka will receive the whole stock of Vaccine doses imported from India .

740 Corona Positives Recovered And Discharged From Hospitals Today (08)

 Another  740 Corona Positives had been discharged from Hospitals and Treatment centers today (08) and 807 Corona positives had been discharged yesterday (07)after full recovery according to Ministry of Health .


Accordingly 64,141 Corona positives had been recovered and discharged from hospitals and treatment centers upto now .
