A Chinese National Arrested Whilst Attempting To Smuggle More Than 200 Scorpions

Airport Customs officers had arrested a
30 year old Chinese national whilst attempting to smuggle more than 200 scorpions belonging to different varieties illegally to china at the Katunayake International Airport today (13).

The suspected Chinese National had hidden the scorpions inside his luggage and attempted to smuggle them to china illegally by violating the fauna flora act according to Custom Officers.

Customs officers had confiscated the stock of Scorpions  taken in to custody and questioning the suspect on the incident .

All Unemployed Graduates To Be Recruited To Government Schools Before 01st Of March

All Unemployed graduates in the
country including external Graduates will be provided with  employment in  Government schools before 01st of March according to the Minister of Education Dallas Alahapperuma .

These Unemployed Graduates will be recruited to Government schools without any difference the Minister has stressed during a press briefing held at Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna office in Colombo today (13).

He has reminded that former president Mahinda Rajapakshe too has decided in 2012 to provide employment opportunities for all unemployed graduates in the country then  .

A.Bodaragama Has Been Apointed As The New Excise General

Government has appointed
A.Bodaragama as the new Excise Commissioner General .

Mr.Bodaragama had served as an advisor to the Ministry of Finance and held various posts in Excise Department during his career of more than 30 years including as an .acting Excise Commissioner General .

He has joined  the service as an Excise inspector in 1985.

Colombo High Court Sentenced A Businessman A 30 Year Rigorous Imprisonment Over Raping A Boy

Mahendren had today (13)sentenced a 50 year old Businessman residing in Kirulapona area a 30 year rigorous imprisonment over brutally raping of an underaged boy for an one year period from November 2013 to November 2014.

High Court Judge Mahendren had also ordered the accused businessman who was found guilty over the charges levelled against him on the rape incident to pay a compansation of Rs.600,000 to the underaged victim and also  imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 on the accused .

Attorney General had filed indictments against the rapist and after prolongued hearing of the case the accused found guilty over the charges.

If the accused fails to pay the compansation and the fine he will face another seven and half year imprisonment Judge Mahendren has stated .
