Suspended Police Media Division Has Been Re Established -New Police Media Spokesman Has Been Appointed

Police Media Division which had been

suspended on 27 th of November has been re established today (01)with a new Police Media Spokesman according to Police Headquarters .

Accordingly acting Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Chandana Wikramaratne had appointed supirintendent of Police (SP) Jaliya Senaratne as the new Police Media Spokesman under the instructions of National Police Commission .

The new Police Media Spokesman had assumed his duties at his office this morning .

New government had earlier suspended the activities of Police Media Division which provided detailed report of  day day to crime incidents to the media through e mail and abolished the Police Media Spokesman title .

The previous Police Media Spokesman Senior SP Ruwan Gunasekare has been recruited  to Police Legal Division .

Government To Ban Importing Of Ethan

Government has decided to stop the

importing of Ethanol substance for local Liquor Production with effective from today (01) on the instructions of Finance Minister Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Govaccordance to Miniistry of Finance ,Economics and Policy Development .

This decision has been taken To protect the local Ethanol Industry which is in large scale   Ministry has stated.

Former SPC Chairman Rumi Mohommad Had Been Arrested Him And Remanded Over Media Briefing On White Van Abductions

The former Chairman of the State

Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) Rumi Mohommad Hashim has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)  this morning (31)after he was surrendering  to CID over the allegations levelled against him on providing financial assistance to conduct a media briefing on white van abductions .

The former SPC Chairman Rumi had been remanded until 06 th of January by Colombo Additional Magistrate Shalini Perera after been produced him before the court today.

Colombo Additional Magistrate oppossed to release Former SPC chairman on bail as it might affect the ongoing investigations on Media briefing conducted on White van abductions .
