Chief Security Officer Of Avant-Guarde Marine Protection Unit Arrested Upon His Arrival

Criminal Investigations Department 
(CID )had yesterday  (27)arrested the Chief security officer of the Avant-Guarde Marine Protection Unit retired Navy Commadore  Vishwajith Nandana Diyabalanage on his return to Sri Lanka from Singapore last at the Katunayake Airport.

The suspect was arrested over avoiding court  regarding the Avant-Guarde floating armoury issue.

Although the Galle Magistrate Court
Had imposed  a travel ban on the suspect he had somehow managed to leave Singapore it has been revealed.




Seven Bodies Of Female Elephants Recovered At A Habarana Reserve

seven bodies of female Wild Elephants who had died mysteriously yesterday (27)and today (28)at Thunbikulama reserve in Hiriwadunna ,Habarana.

Accordingly four bodies of Elephants had been recovered yesterday and three today it has been revealed.

These bodies of female Elephants had been recovered during a joint search mission carried out by the Wild Life officers attached to Sigiriya Wild Life office, Habarana Police ,Army personal and residents of the area .

A four year old Baby Elephant Calf had found whilst staying close to the body of one of the female Elephants recovered today  .The calf who didn't realise that his mother is dead stayed with her and not allowed anyone to come near the body it has been reported .

However as there's a need to comduct a post mortem regarding the Elephants body ,Wild Life officers had tranquillized the baby Elephant calf and released him to another area according to reports.

Search mission is currently underway to check whether there are more bodies of Elephants in the reserve .A large number  of Locals and foreigners had arrived in the reserve  to view the bodies of the Elephants .

FCID HAD ARRESTED TWO FORMER CUSTOM DIRECTORS OVER RELEASING GOLD

Police Financial Crimes Investigation
Division( FCID) had yesterday  (27)arrested the former Customs Director General Jagath Wijeweera and Foemer Additional Customs Director General Tharaka Dissanayake over releasing a stock of confiscated Gold weighing 8 Kilo Grammes for building a "Samadhi Buddha Statue during previous regime.

Accordingly the two suspects had been arrested over releasing the stock of confiscated Gold kept under the custody  Customs  to create a Buddha Statue to place in the "Sanda Hiru Saya" at Anuradhapura on the charges of breach of Trust  .

However the two suspects had managed to admitted to  two Hospitals citing sudden illness before their arrests  it has been revealed. Former Customs Director General Jagath Wijeweera and Former Additional Customs Director Genreal Tharaka Dissanayake are currently receiving teatment at Jayawardanapura Teaching and Badulla General Hospitals respectively under the police protection.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake has recently ordered to a rrest  the two suspects  over the charges.

FCID is due to inform the Colombo Chief Magistrate over the arrests of two Former officers  today  (28).

Navy Arrested Two Persons With 1316.6 KG Of Beedi Leaves

Naval Command have arrested two persons who had attempted to smuggle 27 parcels containing  1316.6 Kilo Grammes of Beedi leaves to Sri Lanka in the Northern sea area near the Analathivu island yesterday  (27).

Navy Personal have taken in to custody the Dinghy Boat which has been used by the Smugglers to transport the Beedi leaves .

The two suspects of the ages 18 and 32 are residents of pasalai  in Mannar and they along with the stock of Beedi Leaves and the Dinghy Boat had been handed over to the Customs office in Jaffna for further investigations according to Navy .
