Two Had Been Drowned Whilst Bathing In A Canal

Two youth belonging to a same family

had been drowned whilst bathing in a canal carrying water to Ibbankaduwa Wewa (River )to Ranwa Wewa (River )at Lakshapol area ,Galkiriagama today  (08).

The deceased had been identified as 27 and 30 year old residents of Galkiriagama area .

Their bodies had been sent to Dambulla Base Hospital for the post Mortem . 

Elephant Rampage In Kotte Procession Injured 17 Persons

Seventeen Persons including twelve females had been injured and hospitalized due to a Elephant rampage taken place at the 119th Kotte Raja Maha Temple Procession held last night (07) in Kotte Raja Maha Temple road .

The injured had been admitted to the Colombo National, Kalubowila Teaching and Jayawardanapura Hospitals for treatment.

The incident occurred when one of Elephants participated in  the procession was disturbed and ran a mok .

Due to the disturbed Elephant crowd gathered there to witness the procession too got disturbed and ran a mok it has been revealed .At that time another Elephant too got disturbed and ran amok    .

Due to the incident "Gajanayaka Nilame "who was in charge of the Elephants of the procession and on one of his Elephants who  got disturbed too fallen down  it has been revealed.

The disturbed Elephant had stopped near the 'Kotte Raja ' Elephant who carried the Sacred Relics of Lord BUDDHA in the procession and calmed down according to reports.

However later the procession was conducted in peaceful manner .

A Person Had Been Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 66 year old person had been killed after colliding with a Three Wheeler whilst crossing the road through a pedestrian crossing near Walikamam Pradesheeya  Sabha in Chunnakam ,at Jaffna -Kankasanthurai main road today (07).

The deceased was a resident of Maradanmadam area .

Police have arrested the Three Wwheeler driver over the incident .

Four Persons Injured After A Three Wheeler Falling Down In To A Precipice

Four persons had been injured and hospitalized after the Thee Wheeler they were travelling in from Gampola to Agarapathana area veering off the road and had fallen in to a 50 feet deep precipice at Bohil -08th Mile post in Navalapitiya -Thalawakale main road this morning (07).

The injured who are of the ages 20-25 had been admitted to the Navalapitiya Base Hospital for treatment

The incident occurred as a result of the Three wheeler driver fallen a sleep whilst on the wheel according to Navalapitiya police .
