A Patient Committed Suicide At Karapitiya Teaching Hospital

A patient in Accident ward of the
Karapitiya Teaching Hospital has committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of a Building attached to the hospital this morning(19).

The deceased was a 52 year old person resided in Denipitiya,Matara area .

The cause behind the suicide has not yet been revealed.

A Person Was Arrested With 1.37 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin

Wattala Police (Western Province)have
arrested a 35 year old person with a parcel containing 1.37 Kilo Grammes of Heroin in his possession  at Dikovita area in Wattala this evening(19).

The suspect who is a resident of Samupakarawatta in Dikowita ,Wattala had run after seen the  Police whilst carrying the Heroin parcel.However Police officers have chased and  arrested him it has been revealed.

The estimated value of the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is nearly Rs.10 million according to Police.

First Sri Lankan Made Sattellite "Ravana-1" Had Bern Reached International Space Station

The Space craft "Cygnus cargo "carrying the first satellite made by two Sri Lankan research engineers "Ravana-1"  that launched in to the space yesterday(18) from Virginia,USA ,had been  reached International Space Station  this evening(19) it has been reported.

The "Ravana-1"-Sattellite  has been made by research engineers Tharindu Dayaratne and Dulani chamika attached to Arthur .C Cletk center in.Moratuwa under the Birds project in Japan.


A Youth Has Died And Her Sister Had Been Injured Due To Lightning

A 17 year old youth has died and his 15
year old sister has been injured and hospitalized after a lightning had struck them in ftont of  their house at Vishwamadu area in Pudukudirippu area ,Mulathivu this noon(19).

Lightning had struck them whilst they were in front of the house during the heavy showers experienced at that time.

The injured girl had been admitted to Darmapuram district hospital for treatment it had been revealed.

The Area Where A Leopard Killed A Man In Kumana Park Has Been Declared As A Banned Zone For Tourists

Wild Life Department has made the area in Kumana National Park where a person was killed due to a leopard attack and other places in the park where leopards are as temporary banned zones for tourists .

This decision  has been taken after the killing of a 48 year old laborer by a leopard at kiripokuna area on Babure-Bambaragasthalawa road near the Kumana Park last evening(18).

Earlier it has been reported that  the deceased who has died due to heavy bleeding after being bitten by the  leopard was a tractor driver.

The deceased has been identified as a 48 year old resident of Pothuvil area worked as a laborer in Kumana Park.

Another person who is a jeep driver accompanied the  wild life officers to the scene had been attacked by the same leopard whilst he has photographing the leopard and admitted to Pothuvil hospital with critical injuries it has been revealed.Later he had been transferred to Ampara General Hospital for further treatment .

Doctors have performed few Surgeries  on him .

Meanwhile Wild life department has ordered an inquiry over the incident.
