A Youth Parliamentarian And His Friend Were Remanded Over Sexually Molesting A School Girl.

Parliament representing Northern Province and his friend arrested over abducting a 19 year old School Girl and sexually molesting her at a forest in Palai area had been remanded until 04 th of September by the Mulathivu Magistrate Court yesterday (23).

The two suspects who were arrested by the Police had been remanded by the Mulathivu Magistrate S.Lenin Kumar after being produced before the court yesterday .

The suspected Youth Parliamentarian along with his friend arrived in a Van had abducted the A level students who was on the way home after her examination on laSt Sunday  (19) evening at Mulathivu  and sexually molested her at a forest in Palai area and released her on Monday Police have informed the Court.

Mulathivu Magistrate has ordered the authorities to produce the suspects for an identification parade and to send the victim for a medical test. 

Railway Unions To Launch An Island Wide Strike From Next Wednesday

Unions Committee has decided to launch an Island Wide Continuous strike with effect from midnight on next Wednesday  (29) along with several other Railway Trade Unions over few demands including not providing solutions for  their salary anomaly problem.

Earlier the Trade Unions Committee has decided to launch the strike with effect from midnight last night (23) however after considering the inconvenience face by Public travelling from trains to view "Esala Perahera (PROCESSION) and  Students who are sitting for the Adanced Level Examination the Trade unions had decided to postponed the strike till next Wednesday it has been revealed.

The talks held between the Railway Trade Unions and President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (23) over the demands of the Unions ended unsuccessfully according to reports. During the talks President Had requested the Trade Unions to await till the releasing of the report of Salary anomalies Committee headed by Dr.Sarath Amunugama.

A Lorry Driver Had Been Injured After The Lorry Had Fallen Down A Precipice

A Lorry driver had been  injured and hospitalized after the Lorry with a Water tank he was driving in toppled over to a 300 feet deep precipice near a Tourist Hotel at Ella area in Badulla last evening (23).

The incident occurred when the driver had attempted to turn the lorry to take the Water Tank brought to the Tourist Hotel inside it has been revealed. However the Lorry had fallen down the precipice nearby due to the inability of the driver to control the vehicle .



Road Infront Of The Castle Street Hospital Is Being Submerged Due To A Bursting Of A Pipeline

Due to the bursting of a pipe line in
front of the Castle Street Maternity Hospital at Borelle this morning (24) the road is being fully submerged it has been reported .

Due to this situation two Lanes of the street had been blocked for traffic.

The National Water Supplies And Drainage Board had requested the Motorists arriving from Battaramulle and Palawatte areas to use an alternative roads.

However there's no interruption to the water supply in the area due to the bursting of the pipeline the Board has announced.The renovation work of the pipeline due to begin shortly.


Former Sri Lanka Airlines Chairman Appeared Before The Special Presidential Commission Investigating Fraud And Corruption Of The Airllines

Chsirman of Sri Lankan Airlines and the Brother in law of   former President  Mahinda Rajapakshe  had first ime appeared before the Presidential Commission  investigating the fraud and corruption activities of Sri Lankan and Mahin Lanka Airlines yesterday  (23)to give an evidence on charges levelled against him on fraud.

He and the former Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lankan Airlines Kapila Chandrasena were questioned for eight hours by the Criminal Investigations Department  (CID) officers attached to the Commission yesterday .

The two former Managers of the Airlines had given evidence before the Commission earlier had stated that the Sri Lankan Airlines had incurred a heavy loss due to the some decisions taken by former chairman regarding flights.

Central Bank Bond Scam: Arjun Mahendran Had Requested The CID Via INTETPOL To Provide Details On Evidence Against Him

Bond Scam, former Governor of Central Bank Arjun Mahendran had requested the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) through the Singapore Branch of the International Police (INTETPOL)to provide the charges levelled against him over the Bond Scam issue , the brief reports of evidence given against himj and the copy of a Court warrant issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate to arrest him.

Deputy Solicitor General Haripriya Jayasundera on behalf of the Attorney General  had informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (23)regarding Arjun Mahendran s request when the case on Bond Scam taken up for hearing.

The Attorney General' s Department is currently examining  on how to provide requisite details to The Arjun Mahendran deputy Solicitor General has stated. When Colombo Fort Magistrate asked her on the location of Arjun Mahendran she has replied that he  was  staying a secret location in Singapore.
