Parliament Proceedings Restricted To Three Hours Due To The Lack Of Speakers

Due to the lack of speakers in
Parliament today (08) The proceedings of the House had been restricted to three hours .

The debates of the Parliament due to be conducted from 2 p.m to 6.30 p.m ,However due to the lack of speakers available it caused the Parliament to end the debates by 3.10 p.m the reports have stated. 

Price Of A Bottle Of Local Liquor Had Been Increased

Local Liquor Companies had increased
the price of a Locally made bottle of Liquor by Rs.40 with effect from midnight last night (07).

The price of Local liquor  had been increased due to the nation building tax imposed over the local liquor by the government .

Transport Ministry To Run Trains Paralyzed Due To The Strike Through Retired Drivers

Ministry Of Transport has requested
the retired Engine Drivers to report to work at the Sri Lanka Railways Department  by 6 a.m tomorrow (09)in view of running Trains halted due to the  ongoing strike of Several Railway Trade Unions.

The Ministry has decided to run the Passanger Trains  paralyzed due to the strike with the help of these Retired Engine Drivers.

Ministry has also cancelled all leave of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) employees  until the strike of Railway Workers get resolved.

A Tense Situation Had Occurred Due To The Sudden Railway Strike

A tense situation had occurred at Colombo Fort and Maradana Railway

Stations since this evening (08)as the Office commuters had begun  a protest campaign blocking the roads and railway tracks   against the on going strike of several Railway trade unions.

Riot Police had been called to calm the situation and the main road in Colombo Fort had closed due to the protests.

Properties at Colombo Fort and Maradana Railway Stations had been damaged by the commuters during the protests it has been reported.

Several Railway Department Workers including Engine Drivers ,Station Masters and Guards had launched a sudden strike since 3 p.m this evening against the cancellation of the decision taken by the Cabinet earlier to.increase the salaries of Railway Workers.

Sri Lanka Transport Board had deployed several additional.Buses for the convenience of commuters due to the Train strike.

Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero Had Been Sentenced To 19 Years Of Rigorous Imprisonment Over Contempt Of Court

The Court Of Appeal has today
(08)sentenced the General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena Organization Venerable Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero a Nineteen year rigorous Imprisonment to be spent in Six years over contempt of Court charges.

The Gnanasara Thero   was charged over showing rude behaviour at the Homagama Magistrate Premises after concluding a case filed against disappearance of Cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

The Thero Who is currently receiving treatment at Kotte,Sri Jayawarda napura  Teaching Hospital for a Kidney ailment has been ordered to arrest and remanded by the Appeals Court.

He was admitted to the Hospital on Monday (06)and due to undergo a Surgery on this Friday (10) according to sources.

Galagodaatte Thero was arrested and remanded recently over threatening the wife of Dissapeared Cartoonist Eknaligoda ,Sandya Eknaligoda  ,However later released on bail.
