Three Persons Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Car-Bus Collision

Three persons have been critically injured and hospitalized after the Motor Car they were travelling in  colliding with a Private Bus at Alahena area on Ampara-Siyambalanduwa main road last night(13).

The injured were admitted to the Damana provincial Hospital and later transferred to Ampara General Hospital and to the Kandy Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

The injured are attached to a Private Financial Institute in Ampara and residents of Nawagampura,Ampara.

Damana Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Four Members Of A Same Family And Another Person Arrested Over Packetting Heroin

Four members of a same family and another person have been arrested by the Maharagama Police while packetting around 500 Grammes of Heroin to distribute at a Rented house in Veera Mawatha(Road) ,Maharagama this morning(14).


Accordingly a Father,His Wife,27 year old daughter,Her lover and 14 year old daughter have been arrested .The suspects are residents of Badowota area in Mount Lavinia and rented the house in Maharagama for Drug smuggling ut has been revealed.

The suspects are due to be produced before the court.

A Mother And Son Have Drowned While Bathing

A 40 year old mother and her 10 year old son have drowned while bathing in Subasethagama Maha Wewa(River) in Kobeygane area yesterday(13).

The deceased were residents of Borella area.Their bodies had sent to Nikaweratiya Hospital for the Post Mortem.

Two Sri Lankan Nationals And An Indian National.Were Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle Foreign Currency Notes

Two Sri Lankan Nationals and an Indian National have been arrested by the Airport Customs officers while attempting to smuggle Rs.40.8 million worth foreign currency notes to Singapore illegally  at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport last morning(13).


The three suspects had attempted to smuggle Rs.40.8 million worth Euros,US Dollars,Qatari Riyals and Saudi Riyal notes it has been revealed.They were arrested on their arrival at the Airport to board a Sri Lankan Airlines flight UL-306 .

The two Sri Lankan suspects are 40 and 45 year old residents of Colombo and Kuliyapitiya respectively and the Indian National is a 40 year old person according to Customs.

Airport Customs officers are Conducting an investigations over the incident.
