Five Nigerians Without Valid Visas Arrested In Negambo

Police have arrested five Nigerian nationals who are
staying in Sri Lanka without valid visas during a raid carried out in Kochchikade,Negambo area(Colombo).

The five suspects are due to be produced before the Negambo Magistrate Court today (25).

Two Suspects Transported The Banned Herbicide Had Been Remanded

The two supects arrested while transporting 4206
packettes of banned herbicide  "Glyphosate" few days ago had been remanded until 03rd of April by the Hulftsdorf Magistrate Court yesterday (24).

The customs have taken into custody the packetes of Glyphosate and the lorry suspects had used to transport them .



A Fisherman Was Killed After His Boat Colliding With A Navy Boat

A fisherman was killed after his fishing boat colliding with a Navy Boat on
petrol in the sea area of vidathalativu this morning (24).

After the collision the two Navy Officers in the Navy Boat saved the fisherman who was  drowning at that time  and hospitalized him.

However the victim had succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized .

Police have recorded a statement from the two Navy Officers in the Boat which collided with a fishing boat . 

CID Arrested Three Army Personal Over The Rathupaswela Shooting Incident

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers have arrested three Army personal including of two corprols and a staff sargent on friday (24)regarding
the shooting and killing of three persons during a protest campaign held in Rathupaswela ,Weliweriya at Gampaha(Western Province) in August 2013.

The suspects were remanded until 03rd of  April after been produced before the Gampaha Magistrate Court

During the protest campaign held by the residents of Weliweriya area demanding pure drinking water ,Army intervened and gun shooting taken a place to control the angry protestors .

Three persons were killed during the shooting incident and several others injured it has been reported.

Few Hakkepatas Devices Recovered From An Elephant Bathing Site In Pinnawala

Few hakkepatas (An explosive device
used by farmers to kill wild animals including  wild elephants who  destroy their  crops )had  been recovered from a Elephant Bathing site in Maa oya,Pinnawala today(24) according to the Police .

The recovered  Hakkepatas were hidden in a tree near the Elephant Bathing site in Pinnawala orphanage .

Police believed that someone had purposely attempted to harm the Elephants in Pinnawala orphanage when  tney were brought for  bahing.

Police have received a court order from.Kegalle Court to remove the Hakkepatas from the area. .
