Former Minister Basil Rajapakahe And Another Indicted Over A Land Deal

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakshe and
 Thirukumar Nadesan had been indicted today(10)by the Gampaha High Court over an alleged land deal.

The indictment was served on them under the money laundering act when the case filed against the suspects on alleged 16 acre land deal in malwana area taken up for hearing .

Former Minister Basil Rajapakahe who is the younger brother of former president Mahinda Rajapakahe is currently in USA to receive medical treatment.Court had granted him medical leave up to March this year .

Police Arrested A Person With 9.5 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis

Uppuveli Police have arrested a person transporting around 9.5 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis through a Bus travelling from Jaffna to Trincomalee in Kinniya area last night(09).

The 30 year old suspect is due to be produced before the court today(10).

A Lorry Assistant Was Critically Injured After A Lorry He Was In Fallen Down A Precipice In Norwood

A Lorry assistant was critically injured and hospitalized after the Lorry he was traveling in which transported Tea Boxes containing 10,000 Kilo Grammes of Tea from Bagawanthalawa to Colombo ,fallen down a 50 feet deep precipice last night(09) in Norwood area.

The injured Lorry assistant had been admitted to the Dikoya Base Hospital for treatment.

 Police Officers have stopped the Lorry last night in Norwood area to inspect it and found that the Lorry driver was drunk at that time it has been reported.After that Police Officers questioned the driver and during the questioning driver suddenly started the vehicle and driven it  without considering the Police orders .

However as the driver unable to control the speed of the Lorry ,it fallen down the precipice according to the Police.The driver was later arrested by the Police.

Consumer Affairs Authority Officers Taken Into Custody 7825 Kilo Grammes Of Expired Rice Stock In Colombo

The officials attached to the Consumer Affairs Authority had taken into custody 7825 Kilo Grammes of expired Keeri Samba rice during a raid carried out in trade stalls in Colomboo-12.

The expired stock of Keeri Samba rice which concealed in 313 bags weighing 25 Kilo Grammes each, taken into custody while filling the expired stock to  5 and 10 Kilo gramme  bags . 

Two Persons Were Killed After Colliding With A Train

Two persons were killed after colliding with a train at Colpetty (Colombo)while walking on a rail track today(10) it has been reported.

One of the deceased was killed on the spot and other person who tried to save the deceased succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Colombo National Hospital.
