Ten Treasure Hunters Arrested In Monaragala

Police have arrested 10 persons who

Were involved in an excavation

 work in search of a  treasure in demodaraketiya  reserve in Monaragala last night(26).

The suspects who are residents of ambalanthota,sevenagala,Maligakanda,lunugamwehera and thissamaharamaya areas are due to be produced before the Monaragala Magistrate Court today(27).

A Massive Gun Shooting Killed Seven Persons Including Underworld Criminals And A Prison Official In Kaluthara

Six persons including five prisoners and a prison official attached to the

 Jawatte Prison in Northern Kaluthara were killed and four others injured and hospitalized due to a massive shooting taken a place in a Prison Bus this morning (27).

The Injured were admitted to the Nagoda Hospital for treatment and one of the injured are reported as in critical condition .

A group of persons arrived in a Cab blocked a Prison Bus  which was on the way to Kaduwela Magistrate Court from Jawatte Prison carrying an underworld suspects of criminal cases including an underworld gang leader aruna udaya shantha pathirana nick named as "Samayan",and shot at those in the Bus in ethanagoda(Kalutara)area .

The attackers fled in the same vehicle after the shooting it has been revealed.

Due to the shooting "Samayan "too was killed according to Police.

Police department has deployed police teams  to arrest the suspects related to the shooting.

A Businessman Was Shot And killed In Mawathagama

An unidentified gunmen shot and killed a 65 year old

businessman in Mawathagama   ,Kurunagala last night (26).

Two gunmen arrived by a motor cycle shot and killed the businessman while he was on the way home from his office it has been revealed.

Police have deployed two police teams to arrest the suspects related to the shooting.

Five Police Officers Arrested Over A Death Of A Suspect While In Custody Remanded

Police arrested over the death of a suspect while in Police Custody had been remanded until 06 th of March .

The suspects including a sub inspector and four police constables were arrested last evening (26) by the Paliyagoda special investigations division over a death of a 41 year old person who was in police custody.

The four suspected police constables arrested the deceased in his house in Malwana area for questioning over an incident last saturday(25).

Mount Of Earth Collapse-The Dissappeared Worker In Kalu Ganga Project Rescued ,However Died Later

The Backo operator who dissappeared after a Mount of earth collapsed on him during an  excavation work in a stone quary attached to Kalu ganga project in Matale ,was finally rescued this evening after eight hours  rescue operation  .

However the operator who strucked between sand and stones had succumbed to his injuries on admission to hospital .

One person was earlier killed due to the accident and two other workers attached to the project were admitted to the dasgiriya hospital for treatment it has been reported .
