Former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Re Remanded After Released On Bail

Although the Colombo High Court has released the former Crimes OIC in Narahenpita Sumith Perera who had been remanded over a murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen on bail this morning the Colombo Additional Magistrate has remanded him again today(16) until 02nd of March.

The former  Crimes OIC in Narahenpita Police was re remanded as the Colombo Magistrate Court didn't received the bail orders it has been revealed.Former Crimes OIC Sumith Perera was released on bail earlier in the day by Colombo High Court after considering an appeal submitted by him after nine month in prison .

Meanwhile former Deputy Inspector General Police(DDG) Anura Senanayake who had been also remanded over Thajudeen's murder has been further remanded today until 02nd of March by the Colombo Additional Magistrate.

The Colombo High Court has today(16) released the former Crimes OIC of Narahenpita police Sumith Perera arrested over the murder of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen on bail.

Accordingly the former Crimes OIC has been released on Rs.100,000 cash bail and Rs.1 million surety bail .However he is banned from traveling abroad and ordered to report to the CID once a month.

Police Have Arrested Fifteen Students Regarding The Clashes Occurred In Colombo

 Borella and Maradana Police Stations arrested 15 students regarding the
clashes  occurred among student groups in Ananda ,Nalanda and D.S Senanayake collages in Colombo this afternoon .

Police have  recorded statements from  the arrested students regarding the clashes occurred in Maradana and Borella areas after the school today.(15).Due to the clashes five vehicles including a motor car and a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus  had been damaged it has been reported.

Eight Students were injured and hospitalized due to the Clashes and their condition is not serious according to sources.

Special Police teams had been deployed in Maradana and Borella areas after the incident.The causes behind the student clashes not yet been revealed.

Cabinet Approved A Proposal To Import 40,000 metric Tonnes Of Coconut Oil To The Country

Cabinet has approved a proposal on importing 40,000 metric tonnes of
Coconut Oil to reduce  the escalating prices of Coconut Oil in the local market.

Cabinet has also decided to revise the special commodity tax imposed on imported Coconut Oil .The decision has been taken as a short term measure of reducing the escalating prices of Coconut Oil in the market the Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Gayantha Karunathilake has stated during the Cabinet Press Briefing held in Colombo today (15)

Medical Faculty Deans To Submit A Report To The Health Minister On SAITM

The deans of the eight state medical faculities of the country have promised
the Minister of Health Dr
Rajitha Senaratne to submit a report on the standard of the controversial Malabe ,Private Medical Collage (SAITM)within two weeks.

The Medical Faculty Deans made this promise during a meeting held with Health  Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne in the Health Ministry premises today (15).
