Police Have Arrested A Male Massage Therapist Allegedly Attempted To Sexually Abuse An Austrian Female

A male massage therapist has been arrested by the Habaraduwa Police following a complaint lodged by a  24 year old Austrian Female stating  that the therapist attached to a massage center at Unawatuna  (Southern Province) had attempted to sexually abuse her during her body massage.

Accordingly the Austrian Female has stated through her complaint that she along with her boy friend had arrived in Unawatuna area yesterday (25)  and she visited the masage cenrtre there afterwards.Firstly the male therapist massage the austrian female's  head and her shoulder according to her request  and then attempted to sexually abuse her.

VAT Amendment Bill Passed At Parliament By Majority Of 53 Votes

The VAT (Value Added Tax) Amendment Bill was passed at Parliament this evening by a majority of 53 votes.

Accordingly the Bill passed at Parliament with 112 MP'  s voted in favour for and 46 voted against it during the second reading.65 MP'S were absent during the vote.

However as there was a division during third reading ,73 voted for the bill and 23 voted against it during the vote.

Cabinet Approved A Proposal To Appoint A Cabinet Sub Committee To Recommend Amendments To Muslim Marraige-Divorce Act

Cabinet has approved a proposal to appoint a Cabinet Sub Committee to find the ways for amending the Muslim Marriage -Divorce Act in Sri Lanka it has been revealed during the Cabinet Briefing held today(26).

The Cabinet Proposal was submitted to the Cabinet by Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe.

Government is considering to amend the several sections of Muslim Marriage-Divorce  Act including the minimum age limit to marry under the Muslim Law.The proposed Cabinet Sub Committee is due to recommend the Cabinet  the suitable amendments should be made for the Muslim Marriage-Divorce Act it has been stated.

A Resident In Polonnaruwa Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 35 year old Person was killed due to a wild elephant attack at Labugahavatichchi Ela area in Polonnaruwa(North Central Province) this morning according to the sources.

The body of  the deceased who was a resident in Polonnaruwa has been sent to Polonnaruwa District General Hospital for autopsy.
