Colombo Public Health Department To Distribute Rat Control Cubes Among Houses In Colombo City

The Colombo Public Health Department has distributed Rat Control Cubes to 53,000 houses within Colombo City Limits during last April in view of controlling the rat population in city of Colombo which increases rapidly according to the Chief Medical Officer in Colombo Dr.Ruwan Wijemuni. 

These Rat Control Cubes are due to be distributed among another  50,000 houses in Colombo within this month Dr.Wijemuni has stated.

Eight Passengers Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To The Private Bus They Were In Veered Off The Road At Rakwana

Image result for accident graphicEight Passengers  were injured and hospitalized  due to the Palmadulla bound Private Bus they were travelling in veered off the road and crashed into a Tree at Karanketiya in Rakwana(Rtanapura District) Area yesterday (03).

The injured including the Private Bus Driver and four females were admitted to Rakwana Hospital according to the Police.

Rakwana Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

Ministry Of Health Issued A Gazette Notification On Using Colorful Labels In Soft Drink Bottles/Cannes To Indicate Sugar Levels In Them

The Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine has issued a gazette notification indicating in future local Soft Drink Manufacturers should pasted   Colorful  Labels  in Soft Drink Bottles/Cans   to symbolize the amount of sugar that contained in them .

This Gazette Notification is due to come into  effect on 01st of August according to Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala,

Accordingly the Gazette Notification instructed the Soft Drink Manufacturers to use Red Colored Labels for Soft Drinks which contained more than 11 grammes of sugar,yellow colored labels for Soft Drinks contained  sugar level between 2 grammes to 11 grammes and green colored labels for Soft Drinks contained less than 2 grammes of sugar Dr.Mahipala has stressed.

By addressing a media briefing on 'Preventing Non Communicable Diseases in the Society" held at Health Education Bureau in Colombo yesterday(03) the Director General Of Health Services has stressed that the aim of the above mentioned gazette notification is to prevent the spreading of non communicable diseases in the society.

The Health Ministry had already  discussed with local soft drink manufacturers  on using colorful labels to indicate the sugar levels contained in soft drinks  he has further stated.

Supreme Court Informed The Parliamentary Speaker That Some Sections Of Right To Information Draft Bill Are Not Consistent With Constitution

The Supreme Court has informed the Parliament that some sections of the Right To Information Draft Bill are not consistent with constitution and it needs two thirds majority to pass in Parliament the speaker Karu Jayasuriya has announced in Parliament yesterday(03).

The Right To Information Draft Bill which was presented to the Parliament by Minister Of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake on 24th of March had received positive responses from all the nine provinces to go ahead.

The Draft Bill provides specific grounds on which access may be denied the establishment of Right To Information Commission,setting out the procedures for obtaining information and  things related.
