Six Sri Lankan Doctors And Some Indian Doctors Involved In Alleged Illegal Kidney Transplant Racket Are Due To Be Questioned By Indian Police-Indian Media

illeagal kidney taransplants in sri lanka සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලSix Sri Lankan Doctors who have been found as responsible for Illegally purchasing Kidneys from Poor Indian Villagers and transplanted to Indian Kidney Patients at Colombo Based Private Hospitals and some Indian Doctors  who supported the process are due to be questioned soon by Indian Police regarding the alleged Kidney Transplant  Racket Indian Media had reported today(23).

The accused Sri Lankan and Indian Doctors will be questioned by Nalgonda District Police in India which uncovered the information on alleged Kidney Transplant Racket media has stated.

Meanwhile the Superintendent Of Police in the Nalgonda Police Vikram Jeet Duggal has welcomed the Sri Lankan Government's Decision to temporarily ban  all Kidney Transplant Surgeries carried out for foreigners in Government and Private Hospitals in Sri Lanka and stated it will help to expedite the investigations on alleged kidney racket.


Following the Sri Lankan Government's Decision to ban the Kidney Transplant Surgeries for Foreigners in Sri Lankan Hospitals the entire work of illegal transplants of human organs in South Asia came to a standstill the Superintendent Of Police in Nalgonda Police has said.

Indian Police have already filed cases against Six Sri Lankan Doctors who performed 60 illegal kidney transplants in four of the Colombo based private hospitals and also arrested the kingpin of the alleged Kidney Transplant Racket Suresh Prajapathi in India.

Director General Of Health Services Has Appointed A Five Member New Committee To Probe On Alleged Kidney Transplant Racket

The Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has appointed a new five member committee replacing the previous three member committee appointed by the Minister of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne to investigate on the alleged Large Scale Kidney Transplant Racket operated between Sri Lanka and India.

The new committee comprising Deputy Director General Of Dental Services of the Ministry Dr.Jayasundara Bandara(Chairman) ,Deputy Director General(Medical Services) Dr.Lakshmi Somatahunge,Director Laboratory Services Dr.Kamal Jaysinghe ,Senior Assistant Secretary Rohana Silva and Consultant Medical Administrator Dr.Rajapriya Balasuriya has been appointed by the Dr.Mahipala per the instructions of Health Minister according to Ministry Of Health.

The new committee has been appointed to make the investigation process on alleged Kidney Racket more comprehensive and the committee is due to submit a report on their findings within one week period the  Ministry has stated.

Specialist Doctors Want To Remove Heads Of Independent Drug Regulatory Authority

A large number of complaints have been received by the Ministry Of Health,Nutrition And Indigenous Medicine from specialist doctors attached to Government Hospitals island wide by requesting to remove two retired Professors who are the heads of newly Formed Independent Drug Regulatory Authority and responsible for the price escalation  of Anti Biotic Drugs in local market and the Drug Shortage prevails in Maharagama Cancer Hospital at present.

Due to not registering new drugs at the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority since last July there is a severe shortage of essential Anti Cancer Drugs at Maharagama Cancer Hospital according to the Collage Of Oncologists.Due to to the poor administrative skills of two retired professors who are in charge of  Drug Regulatory Authority they are not able to register new drugs for the government hospitals and as there's a shortage occurred  on these drugs , result is the escalation of    prices of many Anti Biotic Drugs at local market Oncologists said.

Due to this the two retired professors should be removed from Authority and   a specialized professionals with a sound administrative skills should be appointed as heads of  Drug Regulatory Authority they have stressed.

The Independent Drug Regulatory Authority has been established under the National Medicinal Drug Policy on 01st of July 2015.It's aim is to import good quality drugs to Sri Lanka for reasonable prices.
