Heavy Showers Caused Floods At A Section Of Colombo-Kandy Main Road

Due to the Heavy Showers prevails in most parts of the Island during yesterday (02) evening the Ballapana Area of Colombo-Kandy Main Road has been flooded with water and due to that   Transport Service on the road have been disrupted according to sources.

Meanwhile a father of five children from Bulathkohupitiya Area  has died this evening due to a lightning st rucked on him  according to Disaster Management Center.

The deadline for the Applying for Voters Registry -2015 is in 12th of November according to Election Commissioner Mahinda Dehapriya.

The Voters Registry-2015 is currently  displayed at all District Election Offices,Additional Secretariats and Grama Seva Niladari Offices the Commissioner has said.The Voters can clarify whether their names are available on the list through www.slelections.gov.lk.

Prime Minister Wikramasingha Has Been Appointed A Special Committee To Investigate On Attack Over HNDA Students

Dr.B.M.S Batagoda is the head of this Special Committee.

The National Police Commission too has decided to appoint a Committee to investigate on the attack on HNDA Students.

Meanwhile the Minister Of Law And Order And Prison Reforms Thilak Marapana is due to  make a special statement tomorrow(03) at Parliament  regarding the attack over HNDA Students.

Sri Lankan IGP To Sign A Memorandum Of Understanding With INTERPOL

The Inspector General Of Police(IGP) N.K Ilangkoon is due to be signed an International Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with International Criminal Police(INTERPOL) during the International Police Conference currently being  held in Uganda.

IGP Ilangkoon has left for Uganda yesterday(02) to participate the above conference.

Supreme Court Has Issued Notices For President ,Prime Minister And 75 Cabinet Ministers To Appear Before Court

The Supreme Court has today(02) issued Notices to President Maithrpala Sirisena,Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasingha and 75 Cabinet Ministers to appear before the Court to give an evidence regarding irregularities said to be occurred when awarding tender to supply Coal for the Thermal Plant at Norochchalai(In North Western Province).

The Bench Of Judges of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice K.Sri pavan has today issued these notices after considering a fundamental rights petition filed at the Court by one of the suppliers the Noble Resources Private Limited who has applied for the tender of supplying coal to Norochchalai Thermal Power Plant.

Through the petition the petitioner has argued that Government has been awarded the Tender for supplying Coal to a Company Call "Swiss Singapore" which requested Rs.101 Million for supplying a Metric Tonne of Coal while the petitioner "Noble Resources Private Limited "has requested less than that amount Rs.90 Million per one Metric Tonne Of Coal,

However the said Sri Lankan Flight is scheduled to be flying to it's original destination Katunayake International Air Port later today.

The Person Who Found Responsible To The Rape And Murder Of Five Year Old Girl Has Been Further Remanded

The Minuwangoda Magistrate has today (02) ordered to remand the suspect Saman Jayantha who has  proved as responsible for rape and murder case of five year old Seya Sadewmini of Kotadeniyawa Area through DNA Test, until 16th of November.

Saman Jayalath found as responsible for rape and murder case of the girl through a DNA Test done at Genetech Institute in Colombo.

Five Year old Seya Sadewmini was sexually molested and strangled to death on 13th Of September a day after she went missing from her home.

Sri Lankan Navy had Ares ted Another Six Indian Fishermen

Sri Lankan Navy had arrested another Six Indian Fishermen  who were engaged in fishing at Sri Lankan Waters and their Boat.

These Fishermen have been arrested while they were fishing near Kachchathivu Island belonging to Sri Lanka according to the Navy.The Sri Lankan Coastal Guard Officers have supported navy to arrest these fishermen,

The arrested Indian Fishermen are due to be handed over to Fisheries Office at Mannar(Northern Province).

A Public Petition To Be Signed At Fort Rail Way Station On 04th Of November Urging Local Internet Providers To Block Porn Sites

The Advocacy And Reconciliation Center has decided to sign a Public Petition on 04th of November at Colombo Fort Railway Station to urge the government to Advise Internet Providers to block accessing Porn Web Sites contains phonographic content  according to Former Senior Superintendent Of Police and secretary Of Advocacy Reconciliation Center Maheel Dool.

Secretary Dool has said the aim of signing the petition is to reduce  crimes targeting  Children and Youth in the country.

The petition will be open  for  public to sign on 04th of November from 9 a.m 6 p.m.After signing the petition  it will Be handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena Secretary according to Secretary Of Advocacy Reconciliation  Center.

The Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DGIP) of the Western Province Pujith  Jayasundara has been today (01) appointed as  Acting Inspector General Of Police(IGP) due to IGP N.K Ilangakoon's official tour to Uganda.

Deputy Inspector General Jayasundara will be acting as IGP until 05th of November according to Police Department Sources. From 05th of November the Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police S.M Wikramasinghe will be appointed as Acting IGP Until IGP Ilangkoon returns to the country the sources have added.
