Sinhalese Cinema Celebrates 65th B'Day Tomorrow

The Sri Lankan Cinema known as "Sinhalese Cinema"  will be celebrating it's 65th Birth Day tomorrow(21).   


To mark this occasion three films screened in 1950's  "Pitisara Kella" (Village Girl) -1953, "Ashoka" (1955) and "Ma Alaya Kala Tharuniya " (The Girl Whom I loved) -1959 are to be screened at National Film Corporation Cinema Hall at Bauddaloka Road,Colombo 07 from 10 a.m to 6 p.m  tomorrow.All three films were directed by the Popular Sinhalese Cinema Director who was  known as the founder of Branded Sinhalese Cinema Late Mr.Sirisena Wimalaweera.This Film Festival is named as Sirisena Wimalaweera Fim Festival.


The First Sinhalese Film "Kadawuna Poronduwa"(The Broken Promise) was screened in    21st of January 1947 at the Kingsly Cinema Hall in Colombo cast by Late Rukmani Devi,Stanly Mallawaarachchi,Eddy Jayamanna,Jemini Kantha ,Hugo Fernando and B.A.W Jayamanna.The Film was produced by Late B.A.W Jayamanna.


Twenty One Schools To Be Closed From 23-29th Of January
