Sri Lanka To Use Successful Cuban Methods Of Reducing Mosquito Density And Leptospirosis


Health Ministry Today(24) decided to Use The Successful Preventive Measures used by the Cuban Government to Control the Mosquito Density and the the Leptospirosis after the Discussions held between Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mrs.Sinsina Castro Dewara and Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva in this regard .According to the Health Ministry Sources A Bacteria Used to Destroy Mosquito Lava Will use for Reducing the Mosquito Density and An Effective Injection use for Leptospirosis will use to Prevent the Spreading of disease.
The Pilot Project for using these Methods is to be Implemented in the Colombo District Around January Next Year and the Cuban Government will Supply the required Bacteria and the Injections free of charge for this project Ministry Sources further added.

Ten Percent Of The Colombo Population Prevelent For Stroke


According to the Recently Carried out Survey in the Colombo District it was reveled that Around 10 Percent of the District population (10 out of 1000 people) are prevalent of having A stroke during their life Acting president of the National Stroke Association Professor Saman Gunathilaka said yesterday (21).There are No National Survey Done in this Regard but it is believe that there are large number of People who are suffering from stroke he added.Diabetese,High Blood pressure,Heart Attacks,Heavy Drinking and Smoking pave the way for Stroke and in sri lanka There are only Two Stroke Rehabilitation Centers one at Colombo National Hospital and Other at Kurunagala Hospital to look after these patients according to The Professor Gunathilaka.
Blocking a Blood Vessel or Blood Flow to the Brain Caused the Stroke he stressed.He Reveled this At a Press Briefing held in Colombo regarding a International Stroke Meeting held during the ongoing Annual Academic Sessions of the Collage Of Neuro Surgeons.Professor Graham Venables the President of the International Stroke Federation said that Organizing the Care given to the Stroke Patients is important when treating the disease

High Court Lifted The Ban Imposed On Edna Chocolates

Colombo High Court Today(21)has lifted the ban imposed on Producing Edna Chocolates after Ministry Of Health Gave Clearance for it.Edna Chocolate Production was suspended by the Colombo
District Court Last Month after found positive of containing Industrial Chemical "Melamine".According to the sample of Edna Chocolates Tested in the Lab it was found containing 1.5 Melamine Parts Per Million parts of the Product.However later Ministry Of Health declared that the Melamine Laval should contain in the Chocolates and Biscuits should below 2 Parts of Melamine per Million parts of the Product.

Sri Lankan Embassy In Italy To Open On Sundays And Public Holidays


Sri Lankan Embassy in Italy Decided to open on Sundays and Public Holidays as well and became the first Sri Lankan Embassy in Europe to open in holidays .Sri Lankan Embassy situated in the Capital of Italy,Rome opened on Last Sunday (16th) and it will continue this process to cater the needs of more then one hundred thousand sri lankans live in Italy, the Embassy Sources said.

Eastern Docs To Return To Their Duty After Reviewing The Security Situation In The East

Despit the Ministry Of Healthsaid that the Eastern Province Doctors who are Moved to Colombo and Other Security Locations Citing fear of their Life Promised to Report Back to Work from this Sunday(23) Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) said today that these Docs will return to work after reviewing the Security Situation in the East.A meeting with Participation of these Doctors will be held Tomorrow and a Decesion will taken in this meeting on Reporting back to work Dr.Chandika Epitakaduwa a General Committee Member of the GMOA Said.Eastern Doctors will never Belief the False Promises offered by the Health Minister he further added.
Around Fifty Eight Sinhalese Doctors Attached to the Batticloe District Hospitals Moved to Colombo and Other security locations from monday due to Security Reasons after An unidentified Gang shgot dead one of their Colleagues at the Navakkadu Hospital Premises on Last Sunday(16) night.

Amnesty International Slams LTTE On Using Trapped Tamil People As A Human Shield


Amnesty International the London Based Human Rights watch Yesterday(19) Accused LTTE for using Around Three Hundred Thousand Tamil People Trapped in the Rebel Held areas as Human Shield against the Ongoing war with the Government Forces.Out of These People Two Thirds who are trapped in the Wanni area are Driven from their homes for using this purpose Amnesty international further said.
