Eastern Provincial Docs Decided To Back To Work Following The Health Ministers Assuarance On Their Safety


All Eastern Provincial Doctors who are moved to Colombo and other security locations citing fear of their Life following the Assassination of their Colleague by Unidentified Persons agreed to Report Back to Work by this sunday(23) after the Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva Promised them To Day(20)To Provide Adequate Security,Transport Facilities and a Rupees One Million worth Life Insurance for each of the Doctors.At a Meeting held in the Health Ministry Premises Today between the Health Minister and Around Hundred Eastern Provincial Docs, Minister Promised to Provide Much Needed Security and ask them to report to work Immediately without crippling the Hospital Services in the Eastern Province further.After the fifty eight sinhalese Doctors of the Batticaloe District Moved to the Security Locations Last Monday some Doctors attached to the Hospitals in Trincomalee,Vavuniya and Kalmunai too moved to Security locations.

Sinhalese Docs In Batticaloe Still Fear To Report For Duty On Security Reasons


Sinhalese Doctors in the Batticaloe District who fled to Security Locations Fearing Security Reasons after one of Their Colleague was Assassinated ,Still not decided to Report to Duty even after the defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha assured their Saftey the Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) Dr.Upul Gunasakera said.defense Secretary Promised to Appoint Senior Superintendant Of Police(SSP) to look into the Security of the Sinhalese Doctors in the Batticloe District and also provided STF(Special Task Force) Security for every Doctor there.Dr.Sarath Padmakumara attached to the Navakkadu Hospital and the Mahilavettuwan Central Dispensary was Shot Dead Last Sunday(16)Night by unidentified Gunmen.His funeral was taken place in Kandy today(19).

Due to the Great Demand Sri Lanka will send Doctors and Pharmacists for Job Opportunities in Libya Soon Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said Today(19).Before sending our Doctors there, Government will Explore the facilities available in Libya for them he said in his address at a Function held today in Hotel Holiday Inn to Recruit One Thousand New Students For Pharmacist Training.Sri Lankan Government Expected to send more than One Hundred Thousand workers to Libya within the First Half of Next Year.
Minister further said that the present Government already gave Appointments to all the MBBS Medical Graduates and No Country in the world even our Neighboring India giving Appointments to Every Medical Graduate Passed Out.

Doctors Attached to the Government Hospitals in the Batticloe District Move to Colombo and Other Safe Locations Fearing their Security after A Doctor attached to the Navakkadu Hospital and the Malaivattu Central Dispensary was shot dead by an unidentified gunman yesterday(16) Night says Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA) Dr.Upul Gunasekera .All Fifty Eight Doctors in the Batticloe District including Seventeen Doctors attached to the Batticloe General Hospital were Moved away from their Hospitals today after The GMOA Requested them to do so he stressed.While Addressing a Press Brirfing in Colombo Today(17) he said that this Move is not a Trade Union Action and It's a Security Measure.Dr.S.W Palitha Kumara Was shot dead while he was at the Navakkadu hospital yesterday night.Meanwhile De fence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksha today Gave Assurance to the GMOA Delegation visited him that the Security of the Doctors in the Baticcloe Area will assured and a Senior Superintendant of Police Appointed to look into their Security Matters.
