Transport Activities Suspended From Kahathuduwa To Kottawa Of The Southern Expressway Due To A Road Accident

A Heavy Traffic had prevailed in for few hours this evening (17) between Kahathuduwa to at Southern Expressway after a Container Truck had toppled over the road it has been reported.

Due to this situation All the vehicles arrived in from Galle had been temporarily moved out through the Kahathuduwa exit by the authorities .

However later in the evening transport activities of the Southern Expressway towards kottawa had resumed after the clearing of the blocked road it has been revealed.

Sports Minister Has Requested Entire Training Staff Of Sri Lankan National Cricket Team To Resign From Their Posts

Minister of Sports Harin Fernando has

today (17)requested the Whole training staff of the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team including Head Coach Chandika Hathurusinghe to resign from.their posts after the forthcoming One day match series with Bangladesh National Cricket Team .

In a letter sent to the Sri Lanka Cricket Minister Fernando has urged the Cricket authorities to consider the contracts of the Sri Lankan Cricket team's training staff after resigning .

Meanwhile Former Cricket Captain Minister Arjuna Ranathunge has told that the Sri Lsnkan cricket had been destroyed during last 04 years under the present government .He has also stressed that Both England And New Zealand Should be declared as joint champions according to the final result of the World Cup final held recently.

Price Of Bread To Be Increased By Rs.5 -Consumer Affairs Authority To Take Legal Action Against Flour Companies

The price of a loaf of Bread will be

increased by Rs.5 with effect from midnight tonight (17) due to the increased Wheat Flour Price By Rs.7 according to the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association .

The decision to increase the price of Bread has been taken at a meeting of the Association held today .

Meanwhile Consumer Affairs Authority has decided to take a legal action against the Two Flour Companies Prima and Serendib which increased the Wheat flour price without obtaining the approval of the Authority.

However the two Flour companies had told that the continuous depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against US Dollar led them to increase the price of Wheat flour. The decision has been taken seven months ago they have stressed.
