A Female Pedestrian Was Killed After Colliding With A Small Lorry

A 65 year old female pedestrian had
been killed after colliding with a small Demo Batta Lorry in a sub road on Kaduwela-Malabe road in Athurugiriya  yesterday (14).

The lorry which was parked by  the side of the road driven automatically backwards and collided with the female pedestrian who was walking on the pavement.The critically injured female who was a resident of Maliga godella in Mulleriyawa area had succumbed to her injuries before admission to Colombo National Hospital.

 Athurugiriya Police have arrested the Lorry driver who was away from the lorry at the time of the incident ,Regarding the accident.

STF Personal Recovered A Stock Of Powerful Explosives From Hambanthota

Special Police Task Force Personal
(STF)in Suriywewa, Wals apugala  area have arrested a person whilst transporting a stock of poweful explosives including 225 Kilo Grammes of Ammonium Nitrate at Pahala Andarawewa area in Hambanthota today (15).

STF Personal have taken in to custody 225 Kilo Grammes of Ammonium Nitrate ,100 Electric Deternators and 196 Gelignite sticks in possession of the suspect.

The stock of Powerful explosives had been recovered after  STF Personal had  stopping the Cab  which was  driven without heading the police orders .

The suspect along with the explosives have been handed over to the Hambanthota Police for further investigations . The suspect and the explosives are due to be produced before the Hambanthota Magistrate Court.



Consumer Affairs Authoriry Given Approval To Increase The Price Of Imported Milk Powder

The Consumer Affairs Authority has today (15)given an approval to increase A Kilo Gramme of  imported Milk Powder by Rs.60 and 400 Grammes of Imported Milk Powder pack by Rs.25 accordance to the price formula introduced for imported Milk Powder.

Accordingly the price  of 01 Kilo Gramme of imported Milk Powder has been increased to  Rs.920 from Rs.860 and 400 Grammes of Imported Milk Powder pack has been increased to Rs.370 from Rs.345.

As government has earlier refused to give approval to increase price of Imported Milk Powder ,Milk powder importers have refused to clear stoccks of Imported Milk Powder from the port.As a result a Milk Powder shortage has been created in the market.
