A Wild Elephant Had Been Killed After Colliding With A Train

A Wild Elephant had been killed after
colliding with a mail Train travelling from Colombo to Jaffna at Oddusudan ,in Mulathivu this morning  (04ń ).

However gun shot injuries had  been  received by the Elephant including to one of his  feet it has been revealed.

Meanwhile a Group of Wild Elephants had entered the nearby villages yesterday  (03)in search of food and although the villagers had informed on this to Police and Wild Life officers ,they didn't take any action regarding the matter according to reports .




First Day's Hearing Of Petitions Filed Against Dissolvement Of Parliament Completed In Supreme Court

A seven member Judge Panel of
Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Nalin Perera had today (04) begun hearing of the Petitions filed at Court against president Maithripala Sirisena 's decision to dissolve Parliament .

Lawyers representing United National Party and other parties filed petitions against Dissolving Parliament have stated during the first days hearing of petitions,according to the 19th Amendment of the Constitution,  there are two occasions president can dissolve Parliament and they are after Parliament completing  four and half years and when a resolution passed with two  third majority in Parliament to dissolve it.

However president's dissolvement of Parliament not matched any of these two occasions  indictated in  the Constitution they have argued .

The hearing of petitions due to continue in Supreme Court tomorrow (05)and the day after (06)as well and the verdict regarding the case is scheduled to be delivered on this Friday  (07).

Police Fired Tear Gas And Water Cannons To Disperse A University Students Protest March

Riot Police have fired tear gas and
water cannons to disperse a group of University Students protesters belonging to Inter University  Students Federation marched   towards the Presidential Secretariet in Colombo Fort near the Lotus Roundabout this evening  (04 ).

Around 2500 University students  had been participated in the protest March which begun Infront of University of Aesthetic Studies in Colombo this noon by demanding to suspend the class suspension imposed on a group of students in Rajarata and South Eastern Universities .

Entry road to Galle Face had been closed from Lotus Roundabout due to the Protest march and as a result heavy traffic had been reported in and around Colombo Fort and Town Hall according to reports .

UPFA MP Group (Former Minority Government MP 's)To Boycott Tomorrow's Parliament

The Group of Parliamentarians
representing United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) headed by President Maithripala Sirisena has decided to boycott tomorrow's Parliamentary proceedings as well according to UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardana .

This decision has been taken as the Parliament meets against the Parliamentary traditions MP Gunawardana Has stressed.

The Parliament which convenes against Parliamentary traditions, Standing orders and Constitution has no validity he has stated.

Earlier it has been revealed the former minority government group is scheduled to be participated  in tomorrow's Parliament meeting .

Parliament is due to meet tomorrow (05)at 10 a.m..

MP Mahinda Rajapakshe And Four Of His Former Ministers Filed Appeals Against Interim.Order

Rajapakshe and four  of his former appointed Ministers Chamal Rajapakshe ,Johnston Fernando ,Dinesh Gunawardana and Wijedasa Rajapakshe have today (04 ) filed two appeals in Supreme Court separately ,requesting to issue an interim order to prevent the implementation of the interim order issued by Court of Appeal against them yesterday  (03).

The appeal petitions had requested the Supreme Court to make the Court of Appeal s interim order issued yesterday preventing the functioning of MP Rajapakshe and his former Ministers in  minority government ,powerless.

The interim order was intepreted the law incorrectly and issued against the Constitution it says.

The respondents of the appeal petitions are 122 MP's who had filed a petition  against appointing Mahinda Rajapakshe as premier including United National Party with its leader Ranil Wkiramasinghe, JVP,TNA ,ACMC, SLMC and TPA Parties .
