Two Motorcyclists Were Killed Due To Motorcycle -Bus Collision

A Motorcyclist And a Pillion rider were

killed when the Motorcycle they were riding in colliding with a Bus at Koswetiya-PalleBadda bend on Embilipitiya-Ratnapura main road today (26).

One of the deceased was killed on the spot and other died after admission to the hospital.

The deceased were identified as 32 and 19 year old residents of Agunakolapalassa ,Middeniya and Neluwa,Galle areas.

The Motorcyclist were travelling from Ratnapura to Embilipitiya and the Bus carried a group of persons on a trip to Ratnapura from Embilipitiya at the time of the incident .

A Female Was Shot And Killed At Maligawatte

A 34 Year Old Muslim Female Was

killed due to a gun shooting incident at a road near Jumma Junction Laundry at Maligawatte this evening (26).

The deceased was shot by two unidentified gunmen arrived in a Motorcycle it has been revealed.The critically injured female had succumbed to her injuries while taking to the Hospital.

The cause behind the gun shooting has not yet been revealed.

A Nine Year Old Boy Has Drowned In "Yodha" Wewa (Tank)

A 9 year old boy had drowned while

bathing in "Yodha" Wewa (Tank) at Tissamaharama area last evening (25).

The drowned boy had succumbed to his injuries after rescued by the residents of the area and admitted to the Debarawewa Hospital it has been reported.

The deceased who was a resident of Aluthgammanaya area ,Diyathalawa had faced this incident on his arrival at Tissamaharamaya for Kataragama pilgrimage with a group .

A Female Elephant Has Died Due To Exploding "Hakkapatas "

A body of a female Elephant who died after eating food contains an explosive device "Hakkapatas" had been found at a paddy field in hadaoya area at Pothuwil ,Ampara it has been reported.

The deceased Elephant who was around 30 years old died as the explosive device inside the food item she had consumed exploded inside the mouth according to Wild Life Officers
Due to consuming food contains this device animals including Elephants die after not been able to consuming any food as a result of the injured mouth .

Wild Life Department along with Pothuwil Police have launched an investigation over the death of the female Elephant.

"Hakkapatas" devices are use by the farmers to protect their crops from animals although it's an illegal method officials have stated.
