Fire Destroyed A Large Extent Of Land Belonging To A Reserve

More than 10 acres of land belonging to

Adhaluwa reserve at Udawalawa area had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the Reserve last night (24)it has been reported.

Wild life officers believes that the fire may have erupted due to the dry weather prevailing in the area at present and winds caused the fire spreading faster.

Special Police Task Force and Police personal along with the residents of the area had managed to douse the fire before spreading it further.

A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Kerala Cannabis

Police have arrested a 41 year old

person while transporting 8.281 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis by a Lorry at Kalpitiya yesterday (24).

Police have also taken in to custody the Lorry used to transport the stock of Cannabis .The arrest was made during a raid carried out in the area.

The suspect who is a resident of Norochchalai area is due to be produced before the court .
