Six Students Were Injured And Several Houses Damaged In Southern Province Due To The Strong Winds

Six students have been injured with
one critically and several houses were damaged as well as power lines as a result of the fallen trees ,After strong winds blowing across several areas in Southern Province including Galle and Hambanthota today(08)according to the Disaster Management Center.

Six students were injured and hospitalized after the roof of a Private Tution Class in Beliatta had collapsed over them due to a falling of a tree to the roof it has been reported.

Several Incidents related to the  House and Roof  damages have been reported in several areas in the Southern Province including Akuressa according to the Center.

Meanwhile as the strong winds still prevailing in Southern Province,The Meteorology Department has instructed the Navy and fisheries community to be vigilant over the situation in sea areas.

An Elderly Female Was Injured Due To A Motor Car Caught Fire At The Southern Expressway

An elderly female had received minor
injuries and hospitalized after the Motor Car she and a couple were travelling in colliding with the retention wall of the Southern Expressway and caught fire near the 97 th mile post between Pinnaduwa and Imaduwa  yesterday(07) .

The injured was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and the couple survived without any injuries due to the incident.

However the "Alto "Type motor car involved in the Accident was severely damaged due to the fire.

The incident occurred due to the driver falling a sleep while driving  the vehicle from Colombo to Akuressa  according to the Police.

A 39 Year Old Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 39 year old person was killed due to a
Wild Elephant attack at a reserve in Pahala Mattala area in Hambanthota  District.

The body of the deceased had found during a search operation carried out  as he didnt return home until today(08)after visiting the reserve it has been reported.

The Wild Elephant who had attacked the deceased has also damaged few houses at Pahala Mattala,Ihala Mattala and Andarawewa areas according to reports.

Three Persons Have Died After Their Boat Capsized In Eggal Oya

Three persons have died and one went

missing after the Boat they were travelling in Capsized in the eggal oya(River) at Damana-Ampara this morning(08).

Nine persons including the students, Teachers ,The Principal and a security officer attached to the Siri Sivali Collage in Kandana-Badulla went for a boat ride during a school trip to Damana and faced this incident after capsizing   their Boat.

Five out of the nine persons who have drowned due to the incident have been rescued by the fishermen in the area.

Out of the four persons went missing bodies of three persons including the Principal,A teacher ,A 13 year old student and a security officer of the school have found this evening according to the police.Police believes the body of the other missing  person may be hidden under the mud of the river..
