Three Foreign Nationals Were Arrested Yesterday (04)Over Staying In Sri Lanka Without Valid Visas

Police had arrested three foreign nationals over
staying in Sri Lanka without valid visas during two raids carried out on yesterday (04) in Flower Road ,Colpetty and Hill Street ,Dehiwala.

Accordingly a Nigerian national had been arrested in Flower road ,Colpetty and an Indian national and Pakistani National had been arrested in Hill Street Dehiwala.

The Indian and Pakistani Nationals are due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court and the Nigerian national to Colombo Fort Magistrate coury.

Nominations To Be Accepted For Local Government Poll From 27th Of December

The nominations for the forthcoming Local
government elections scheduled to be accepted from 27th ,28th,29th and 30th of December this year according to the Elections Commisoners Office.

The dates of accepting nominations for the poll had been taken after the discussions held with party leaders it has been announced.

The Gazette notification regarding the Local government elections scheduled to be held in January had released recently and signed by Minister Faizar Mustapah on 01st of November.

CID Sent A Special Team To Jaffna To Arrest Few Persons Who Helped Vidya 's Killers To Escape

After the Court imposed a death sentence to the main
accused of Jaffna school girl vidya's rape and murder case the Criminial Investigations Department (CID)has launched another investigation to arrest few persons who had helped the main accused of Vidya's rape and murder Swiss Kumar to escape from police custody.

CID had sent a special team to Jaffna to investigate and arrest the relevent persons it has been reported.

Former Deputy Inspector General Of Police in Central Province as well as a female state minister in Jaffna charged over helping Swiss Kumar to escape from police custody.

A Motorcyclist Had Drifted Away By Strong Waves Of Attanagalu Oya

A 22 year old Motorcyclist had drifted away by strong
waves yesterday (04)while crossing a bridge in  Harasnala area at Attanagalu Oya where the water level had arisen as a result of heavy showers prevailed in the area.

The missing Motorcyclist had been identified as a resident of Veyangoda area.

Petrol Shortage To Be Lasted Till Monday-Minister Arjuna Ranathunge Requested Motorists To Use Petrol Carefully

Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna
Ranathunge has today (04) requested the local motorists to use petrol carefully till the current petrol shortage in Oil refilling stations is solved.

The current Petrol shortage has been occurred in Oil Refilling Stations due to a halting of unloading the fuel from a Fuel carrier belonging to the Indian Oil Company (IOC) which artived in Colombo harbor due to the low quality Minister has stressed.

The state owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is being  maintained a sufficient stock of Petrol to meet the requirements of motorists he has stated.

Although  there is a Petrol shorrage in the Oil refilling stations supply of Diesel and Kerosene oil  has been functioned normally Minister has said.

Meanwhile Fuel Queues have seen today (04)as well in front of Oil refilling stations in and around Colombo as well as in outstation areas  .

A Fuel Carraige is due to arrive in Colombo Harbor on this Monday and afterwards the current petrol short age will be eased according to Petroleum Corporation.



A Person Was Arrested With A Stock Of Kerala Cannabis

Police have arrested a 61 year old person with 01 kilo
and 347 grammes of Kerala Cannabis in his possession at Vavuniya Bus station today (04).

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Chavakachcheriya area.
