Officials To Declare A Security Zone Arround The Landlside Prone Pahiyangala Cave Temple And Restricted Tourist Arrivals

Related imageOfficials are considering to name the surrounding area of historical Pahiyangala Cave Temple in Bulathsinghale area  ,Kalutara  as a security zone and restricted the tourist arrivals to the Cave Temple due to the landslide threat in the area . 

The Cave Temple has  been identified as a landslide prone area and as a result around 35 Buddhist monks resided there have been evacuated last week and moved them to another temple in the area.

Authorities have decided to prepare a special plan on  protecting  the historical Pahiyangala Cave Temple after receiving the full report of the National Building Research Organization and Geological Survey and Mining Bureau regarding the Cave Temple.

More Than Rs.5 Million Worth Goods Donated By A Group Of Private Companies To Flood Victims

An essential goods worth more than Rs.5 million
collected by a group of Private Companies have been handed over to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne to distribute among flood and landslide victims on last Saturday (10).

Among the items included in the donation are bed sheets,metresses,mosquito nets and water bottles .

Sugar Importers Informed The Finance Ministry That There Will Be No Price Hike Of Imported Sugar

Sugar importers have informed that they will not
increase the retail price of imported white sugar despite the inrease of special commodity tax imposed on imported sugar according to the Ministry Of Finance.

Therefore it is illegal if the retail traders increase the price of imported white sugar more than the controlled price the Ministry has stated.

However already the price of plain tea and milk tea have increased as a result of the  increase of imported white sugar price.

Visiting Japanese Technical Expert Team Handed Over A Report On How To Minimize Disasters During Adverse Weather

The 15 member Japanese Technical Expert team which
arrived in  Sri Lanka to conduct a technical study regarding the adverse weather pattern affected to Sri Lanka has handed over it's report to the Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa .

Through the report the Japanese Technical Experts have made many important proposals to minimize the disaster situations during  adverse weather including the residents living in an area identified as a disaster prone area should be evacuated from their houses and re-settled in  safe places and train people living in  disaster prone areas how to evacuate from the areas themselves  when a disaster strikes.
